RN - Emergency Department (ED)

Requirements:

• 2+ years of clinical experience
• 2+ years of ED experience
• Prior travel experience preferred: Ideally 1–2 previous travel assignments
• • Candidates with significant ED experience who can transition easily may be considered without prior travel experience
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS required
• TNCC preferred
• Epic EMR experience
• Strong ED/Level II Trauma experience preferred

Patient Population:

• High elderly population
• STEMI
• Stroke
• Syncope
• Weakness
• Trauma
• Falls

Patient Ratio: 1:4

Unit Details

• ER Techs available:
• • Days: 2–3
  • Evenings: 4–5
  • Nights: 2
• Physician Assistants available
• Respiratory Therapy available 24/7
• Anesthesia available 24/7
• Phlebotomy available 24/7
• Transporters available 24/7
• Lines team available for advanced lines
• Case managers/social workers available most days from 7 AM–11 PM
• No floating required
• No charge responsibilities

Equipment & Clinical Skills

• Art-lines in trauma patients
• Hospira infusion pumps
• Pediatric syringe pumps
• Ventilator management by RT
• Starting IVs/venipuncture
• EKGs
• Blood draws as needed
• Advanced line support through lines team

Orientation

• 2 ED shifts (24 hours total)
• 1 shift with Educator (4–6 hours)

Dress Code

• Any color scrubs; no denim
• Professional appearance
• Closed-toe, non-skid athletic shoes allowed
• Minimal, professional jewelry
• No facial piercings other than ears
• Long hair must be pulled back
• Facial hair must be neat and trimmed
• No gel, acrylic, or nail extensions

Important: Good teamwork and a positive attitude are required.
