The ideal candidate combines electrical engineering expertise with practical industrial troubleshooting experience and the ability to support electrical design, system upgrades, and capital projects. This role requires field involvement, independent problem-solving, and collaboration with maintenance teams, contractors, and operations personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving medium-voltage distribution systems, switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers, protective relays, and industrial induction motors.
- Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs to improve electrical equipment reliability and reduce operational downtime.
- Evaluate electrical equipment performance, investigate failures, and recommend corrective actions and system improvements.
- Review electrical one-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment specifications.
- Support protective relay testing, settings, coordination, and programming activities.
- Participate in electrical engineering design, equipment upgrades, and capital improvement projects.
- Develop technical specifications, project scopes, engineering estimates, and installation requirements.
- Coordinate contractors, equipment suppliers, maintenance technicians, and operations personnel during installations, testing, and commissioning.
- Support condition-monitoring programs involving infrared thermography, motor analysis, and vibration testing.
- Ensure compliance with applicable electrical safety standards, company procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with internal teams and utility providers to support reliable operation of substations and electrical distribution equipment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. Electrical Engineering Technology degrees do not meet this requirement.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant electrical engineering experience involving industrial power systems, electrical maintenance, reliability, or related engineering functions.
- Experience with medium-voltage electrical systems, preferably 4,160V equipment.
- Working knowledge of industrial induction motors, switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers, and protective relays.
- Experience troubleshooting electrical equipment in operating industrial facilities.
- Understanding of substations, power distribution, and utility electrical interfaces.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Experience supporting electrical engineering projects, equipment upgrades, or contractor activities.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work from Tulsa and travel as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of electrical engineering experience, including independent troubleshooting and leadership of complex electrical projects.
- Experience in pipeline operations, refineries, petrochemical facilities, or other heavy industrial environments.
