Direct Support Professional DSP

JLN Homes is responsible for providing compassionate, person-centered care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities living in a group home setting. We are currently looking to fill DSP positions for our agency. The goal of this position is to promote each individual's safety, dignity, independence, and quality of life while encouraging personal growth, community involvement, and the development of daily living skills.

The Direct Support Professional assists residents with their daily needs, follows individualized support plans, administers or assists with medications as authorized and trained, and creates a safe, respectful, and supportive home environment. The ideal candidate is patient, dependable, compassionate, and committed to helping individuals live as independently and meaningfully as possible.

Qualifications and Requirements

•High school diploma or GED preferred.

•Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.

•Strong communication, observation, documentation, and interpersonal skills.

•Ability to demonstrate patience, empathy, dependability, and professionalism.

•Willingness to complete required training, including CPR/First Aid, medication training, safety procedures, and other mandated certifications.

•Ability to successfully complete required background checks and any applicable screening requirements.

•Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

•Physical ability to perform essential job duties, with reasonable accommodations where applicable.

. Work schedules may include days, evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, holidays, and rotating schedules based on the needs of the residents and the organization.

The position may require standing, walking, assisting with personal care, and supporting individuals during daily activities and community outings.
