Partner with formulation scientists on providing recommendations for packaging testing & required equipment needed for launch & to achieve high quality products
Ensure primary package functionality and specifications will perform to established performance criteria
Plan, coordinate and execute formulated product line trials, documentation of trial outcome, fill range, weight, testing, coding, secondary & tertiary pack out, and palletization
Develop formulated packaging to support New Product Development (NPD) pipeline, keeping in mind principles of engineering, design, quality, manufacturing, marketing, and transportation
Create and maintain library of detailed package BOM specifications and package assembly SOP instructions, exploded view drawings, pallet patterns, and other associated engineering documents for new and existing packaging
Responsible for ownership of and adherence to CSP requirements (Cost, Schedule, Performance) for assigned projects
Ensure safe transport of product to market and end user, providing value to the company, controlling overall costs and mitigating potential risks
Assist in development of streamlined & strategic packaging standards and guidelines for future growth and category expansion
Generate presentation materials such as hand sketches, prototype samples, 3D renderings, unboxing journey visuals, and palletization layouts
Engineer folding carton, rigid/turned edge, corrugated and bottled solutions, consistent with premium brand experiences
Develop and qualify 3D components such as Jars, Tubes, Vials, Flexible Films, Applicators, Lids, and other primary package components, using 3D parametric models
Possess a strong creative process, with equal blend of aesthetics and engineering skill set, able to translate design ideas to manufacturing-ready specifications
Maintain knowledge of packaging technologies and trends related to design, materials, and manufacturing machinery/processing
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members, as appropriate.
Work closely with team members across multiple locations & function areas, as well as working with external suppliers toward the successful delivery of projects against businesses requirements
Lead contract manufacturing deliverables of color range boards, finished good parameters and pre-production documentation
Serve as technical lead to contract partners and suggest testing to perform prior to launch and ongoing
Manage project tracking with detailed and critical timeline dates and deliverables to present to PM team
Provide insight and knowledge of plastics materials in manufacturing for best material recommendation on projects
Maintain maintenance of retrieving product drawings, material tech sheets and specifications of old and new items
Prototyping
Using advanced prototype techniques, create and evaluate package proposals, and continuously refine for manufacturing, experience, and aesthetic factors
Conduct iterative feasibility and validation tests to prove out proposals
Generate samples to support internal review gates, executive presentations, and customer sales meetings; assist in graphic finishing as needed
