Job Description

Lead Site Project Engineer (Mechanical)

Location: Dallas, TX
Pay Rate: $60–$70 per hour
Employment Type: 3-Month Contract, with Possibility of Extension
Work Arrangement: Onsite, Full-Time

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Lead Site Project Engineer with a mechanical background to run the final integration of industrial equipment we have delivered to a customer site in the Dallas area.

The equipment includes large acoustic enclosures, SCR emission control systems, and exhaust stacks. You are the technical presence on the floor and our day-today point of contact with the contractor's lead: the person who knows how the equipment goes together, explains our method statements to the crews doing the work, checks that it is being done right, and solves the practical problems that come up in a site.

This is a hands-on role for an engineer or senior technician who has assembled, installed or commissioned such equipment.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Advisory on the Floor

  • Walk the contractor's crews through our method statements, assembly sequences, torque and sealing requirements, and alignment and tolerance requirements for each component, before and during the work.
  • Be present for critical steps: enclosure fit-up and joining, SCR module and reactor placement, stack section assembly, flange and expansion joint make-up, lifting and setting.
  • Answer technical questions from the drawings and specifications, get engineering answers the same day for anything not covered, and raise incorrect methods before they become rework.

Site Interface and Open Items

  • Run the daily coordination with the contractor's lead and represent Nucentra in the customer's site meetings; escalate commercial and contractual matters to Nucentra leadership.
  • Own the open items list: missing, damaged, short-shipped or non-conforming parts, drawings and documents, each with an owner and a date, and drive them to closure with the Dallas factory, engineering and overseas manufacturing.
  • Issue a short daily site report and a weekly summary to leadership: progress, risks, open items and decisions needed.

Verification and Records

  • Check completed work against our method statements and hold points, including fit-up, bolting and torque, sealing, alignment and supports, and record the results.
  • Ensure completion of receiving inspection, photographs, red-lines, deviation records and as-built notes, and review their work.
  • Give the factory clear, specific feedback and support inspection, test, commissioning and punch list work through acceptance.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Mechanical engineering degree or equivalent, or a senior technician background with 7+ years in heavy mechanical assembly, installation or commissioning.
  • Direct experience assembling or installing acoustic enclosures, exhaust systems and stacks, SCR or emission control equipment, power generation packages or similar large, fabricated equipment.
  • Able to read mechanical, structural and piping drawings, and to explain them to a crew.
  • Working knowledge of heavy industrial equipment. Read drawings, bolted joints and torque, gasket and sealing practice, alignment and shimming, structural supports, rigging and lift plans, and leak or pressure testing where applicable.
  • Organized and owns an open items list and a daily report, and comfortable as the vendor's face in a contractor's engagement.
  • Practical, calm and respectful with a contractor's crew, and able to correct a method without taking over the work.
  • OSHA 30 preferred, and willingness to work to the customer's site safety requirements.
  • Available for a full-time, on-site engagement of two to three months in the Dallas area.
