Job Description

Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Project Manager - Systems to lead a critical workstream within a fast-moving modernization initiative in Richmond, Virginia. This is a Contract position for an initial 90-day engagement, with the possibility of extension, and it requires someone who can step in quickly, bring structure to complex cross-functional efforts, and keep momentum strong. The role is primarily functional in nature while still benefiting from a solid understanding of technology, and it will partner closely with accounting, audit, compliance, controls, and technical stakeholders. Remote work is available, with a preference for onsite support when needed, and candidates must be able to operate during Eastern Time business hours.

Responsibilities:
• Take ownership of a high-priority systems-related workstream and provide steady leadership with minimal onboarding time.
• Coordinate activities across accounting, audit, compliance, controls, technology, and other business teams to keep deliverables aligned.
• Facilitate working sessions, status meetings, and executive updates to ensure clear communication and timely decision-making.
• Monitor milestones, action items, risks, dependencies, and open issues while driving follow-through across stakeholders.
• Strengthen delivery execution by identifying gaps, removing obstacles, and improving how work progresses across the initiative.
• Support planning and oversight for work involving security, access-related processes, and control-focused activities as needed.
• Serve as an individual contributor who independently manages priorities without direct supervisory responsibility.
• Prepare for an effective handoff of responsibilities to an internal team member if the engagement is extended or transitions later.• Proven experience leading complex project or delivery efforts in a systems or business transformation environment.
• Strong project management background with the ability to manage cross-functional initiatives involving both business and technical teams.
• Demonstrated success driving meetings, deliverables, escalations, and stakeholder communications at multiple organizational levels.
• PMP certification is preferred, along with familiarity with formal project management practices.
• Working knowledge of Agile Scrum and the ability to apply structured delivery methods in fast-paced settings.
• Ability to balance functional business needs with technical considerations to support effective execution.
• Experience with controls, compliance, audit, security, or role-based access concepts is preferred but not required.
• Availability to work Eastern Time business hours, with flexibility to be onsite in Richmond, Virginia when needed.
