Position Description:
The Achievement Center seeks creative and knowledgeable part-time math tutors to provide academic support for our Middle School and Upper School students. Tutors provide individual support to students through weekly scheduled appointments. Applicants must have at least three years of previous tutoring and/or teaching experience with upper-level math classes, including Calculus.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct scheduled tutoring appointments with students during Achievement Center hours (M-Th 7:45 am-4:30 pm, F 7:45 am-4:00 pm), based on individual tutor availability and scheduling
- Encourage students to develop a systematic approach to studying math concepts
- Assist students with specific topics that require instructional support or warrant further exploration, review recent assignments, and work through problems or questions that require re-teaching
- Utilize proven study strategies or manipulatives to prepare students for upcoming tests and quizzes
- Maintain ongoing communication with students, parents, and faculty members, including providing progress reports
- Attend tutor training sessions and meetings when necessary
- Perform other duties consistent with the position of a Professional Tutor
