Job Summary

Tactical Grooming is seeking a Shampoo Assistant to join our award-winning, veteran-owned barbershop in Madison, Alabama.

This position is designed for students and individuals looking to gain real-world experience in a professional barbershop environment while building the habits, skills, and professionalism necessary for a successful career in the industry.

At Tactical Grooming, professionalism, consistency, cleanliness, and client experience are not optional. This role is an opportunity to learn the operational side of a high-standard barbershop while working alongside experienced professionals.

Key Responsibilities

Client Experience & Support

• Greet and assist clients professionally

• Prepare clients for services

• Shampoo, condition, and rinse hair

• Blow dry and assist with styling preparation

• Help create a comfortable and professional client experience

• Maintain positive communication with clients and team members

Shop Operations

• Support barbers and cosmetologists with workflow and client preparation

• Maintain stocked stations and supplies

• Assist with towel preparation and organization

• Support day-to-day shop operations

Cleanliness & Sanitation Standards

• Maintain a clean workstation and shop environment

• Follow sanitation and safety standards

• Assist in maintaining client areas, common areas, and equipment cleanliness

• Uphold Tactical Grooming standards for professionalism and presentation

Professional Development

• Learn workflow and operational systems within a professional barbershop environment

• Develop communication and customer service skills

• Learn industry expectations and professionalism standards

• Continue building skills and knowledge relevant to future licensing and career growth

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in barber or cosmetology school preferred

• Strong customer service and communication skills

• Professional appearance and demeanor

• Dependable and punctual

• Positive attitude and willingness to learn

• Strong attention to detail

• Ability to work in a structured team environment
