Business Development Representative – State Farm Agent Team Member

This Is a Sales Position
Street Insurance Agency is seeking a motivated, competitive, and relationship-focused
Business Development Representative (BDR) to help grow our agency.
This is a sales-focused position with daily activity expectations, monthly production goals, outbound prospecting, and performance-based commission.
You will be expected to proactively create opportunitiesnot simply wait for customers to contact the office.

What You'll Do
As a Business Development Representative, your primary responsibility is to
generate new business and help grow the agency.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Prospecting for new customers through outbound calls, lead follow-up, referrals, networking, and community outreach.
- Responding to inbound sales opportunities and following up consistently with prospective customers.
- Conducting needs-based conversations to identify insurance needs and appropriate product opportunities.
- Educating prospective customers about available insurance products, coverage options, and next steps.
- Preparing for and conducting sales conversations designed to move qualified prospects toward a buying decision.
- Asking for the business and appropriately handling common sales objections.
- Developing referral opportunities from customers and community relationships.
- Maintaining an organized prospect pipeline and completing required follow-up.
- Accurately documenting customer and prospect interactions.
- Participating in agency marketing campaigns, community events, and business-development activities.
- Meeting established daily activity, weekly pipeline, and monthly sales/production goals.
- Working closely with the agency team to provide a consistent and professional customer experience.
Performance Expectations
This is a
performance-driven sales role.
Team members are expected to consistently meet established activity and production expectations. Performance may be measured through areas such as:
- Outbound prospecting activity
- Customer conversations
- Lead follow-up
- Quotes and opportunities generated
- New policies and premium produced
- Life insurance production
- Referrals
- Conversion results
- Overall contribution to agency growth
Candidates should be comfortable working in an environment where
sales activity and results are measured and discussed regularly.
Compensation
This position offers a
base salary plus performance-based commission.
Your base provides stability, while the commission structure gives successful producers the opportunity to increase their overall earnings as production grows.
Commission is performance-based and is
not guaranteed.
Additional compensation and incentive details will be discussed during the interview process.
Insurance Licensing Is Required
Insurance licensing is a requirement of this position.
Candidates who are not currently licensed are welcome to apply, but must be willing and able to complete the required Illinois insurance licensing within the agency's established timeframe.
Property & Casualty
Our preference is for required
Illinois Property & Casualty licensing to be completed before the employment start date.
If hired without the required Property & Casualty licensing, it must be successfully completed
within two weeks of hire.
Life & Health
Required
Illinois Life & Health licensing must be successfully completed within 60 days of hire.
Candidates should be prepared to dedicate the necessary time to licensing coursework, exam preparation, and testing.
If you are not willing to obtain the required insurance licenses within these timeframes, this position will not be a fit.
Qualifications
Required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfortable initiating conversations with prospective customers.
- Willingness to make outbound calls and consistently follow up with leads.
- Comfortable working toward measurable sales and activity goals.
- Ability to handle rejection professionally and continue prospecting.
- Strong organization and time-management skills.
- Ability to learn insurance products, systems, and sales processes.
- Willingness and ability to obtain all required Illinois insurance licenses within the required timeframes.
- Ability to work in-office in Oak Park, IL.
Preferred
- Previous sales, business development, financial services, banking, customer acquisition, telemarketing, or consultative sales experience.
- Experience working with quotas, production goals, or commission-based compensation.
- Experience with outbound prospecting, lead generation, referrals, or closing sales.
- Existing Illinois insurance licensing.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
