Summary of the Position
This position supervises and coordinates the activities of employees engaged in production and non-production activities in the manufacturing areas. Responsible for meeting productivity and quality standards, training and cross-training employees, conducting employee discipline as needed, planning work and material flow, maximizing output and efficiency, and managing orders for assigned employees. Develops a culture of Operational Excellence and embraces operational excellence principles.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions
Monitors safety in assigned areas and ensures that a disciplined culture exists that drives the expectations of zero lost time or recordable accidents. Reports events as close to actual occurrence as possible and no later than 24 hours after occurrenceMonitors the quality of the products being produced in assigned areas. Works closely with plant quality representatives to address specific events or trends that negatively impact the quality of work being performed. Remains actively engaged in the 6S program and leads by example. Responsible for the condition of assigned areas and for developing the areas to meet company goals as defined. Explains 6S action items posted on the 6S boards and the relationship of those items with regard to company goals
Work Performance Coordination – 50%
Creates and organizes daily routine for each employee.Participates in and develops weekly work schedule in advance with regard to employees’ PTO and training. Manages staffing to meet company goals for safety, quality, customer service and financial performance. Develops an improvement plan for areas of responsibility that documents specific improvement activities and timeline for initiatives. Ensures this plan is available for review by plant leadership at any timeAssigns production to each employee with specific requirements. Demonstrates leadership and answers questions regarding orders.
Schedules and supervises work load for responsible areas.Checks labor tickets daily for accuracy and reviews results.Checks on material status for order completion.
Employee Supervision – 25%
Evaluates performance of assigned personnel as scheduled.
Conducts employee meetings to communicate performance ratings, expectations, goals, recommended improvements, and provides praise for accomplishments.Maintains and displays a training matrix for areas of responsibility with goals and targets defined to increase cross training throughout the plant.Controls and monitors employees’ work time and addresses deviations from policy within the current work week or as policy requires.Provides written performance feedback twice per year to employees using the standard documents provided by the company. Ensures feedback is meaningful and designed to develop employees with regard to safety, quality, financial performance, etc.Documents and addresses performance issues in a timely manner. Ensures that performance issues are not allowed to impede the performance of the work group any longer than is reasonably necessary to allow for corrective actions to take place Coaches employees as needed regarding work performance issues.
Completes Employee Corrective Action Reports as needed and conducts employee meetings in accordance with policy.Recommends promotions and other personnel actions using tools and resources provided.

Maintains Operations Day by Hour, 6S, Metrics and Communication boards showing the correct information
Understands exceptions to operations misses and develops countermeasures to address the event with the goal being that the issue can be eliminated from happening again. Counter measures are either in the form of continuous development projects or placed onto the Daily Accountability board for short term resolution for all operations areas.Manages trainee time and how that time is charged to the company so that the financial goals of the company are metPerforms or coordinates maintenance and material handling tasks as required.
Communicating and reporting – 10%
Writes S-2-6 Shop Order Receipts to transfer finished product to another department or location.
Reviews PPRs when received and assigned, and submits Corrective Action Forms when necessary.Responsible for ensuring quality parts are being made to the standard and reporting any discrepancies to the quality team and/or plant leadership.Engages employees with respect and creates an environment of culture change that drives the performance of the workforce to meet the company goals Submits a training plan for personal development that addresses gaps in the ability to perform the functions required. If no training plan is documented then it is assumed that no gaps exist.
Education and/or Experience
Required – Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in a technical or business field.Three (3) years of proven supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.Preferred – Utilization of six sigma and lean manufacturing. Experience with SAP, Excel, Powerpoint
