This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to partner with cardiac surgeons, OR Nursing staff and the clinical advanced practice manager to enhance workflow and skills amongst the OR PA team. Schedule:Four ten-hour clinical shifts/week with administrative requirementsOn-call requirement during non-routine working hours to assist attending physicians in urgent and emergency proceduresResponsibilities:Assist cardiothoracic surgeons during surgical procedures, including coronary artery bypass grafting, valve repair/replacement, and other complex cardiac surgeriesPerform tissue handling including making incisions, retracting, dissecting, tying, ligating, stapling, suturing and providing hemostasisPerform chest closure, including chest wires when indicated. Routinely closes the leg and chest soft tissue layers. Assists in transporting the patient from the O.R. to the CVSICU/ PACUPerforms endoscopic or open harvesting of the saphenous vein during coronary artery bypass procedures and preparation of the vein for bypassPerforms endoscopic or open harvesting of the radial artery during coronary artery bypass procedures and prepares radial artery for bypassFirst or second assisting with cannulation, graft anastomosis, valve placement, decannulation, femoral access catheters (including IABP) or any other task of open-heart proceduresRequirements:Current licensure as a Physician Assistant (PA) in the state of Maryland.Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.Certification as a Physician Assistant (NCCPA).Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.Prior experience of 5 years caring for cardiac surgery patient population and proficiency in performing endovascular vein harvest (including arterial harvest) is required.Salary Range: Minimum 64.61 per hour - Maximum 100.15 per hour.
