General Summary of PositionProvides educational leadership for professional nursing practice in alignment with the mission, vision, values and goals of the Division of Nursing/MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and Magnet designation. Facilitates the development of staff for both the preceptor and mentor role.Assesses learning needs of the nursing staff on the assigned unit/s at least once per year.Plans, develops, implements and evaluates unit-based orientation and other educational programs, including specialty fellowship programs, using adult learning principles and strategies, to meet the learning needs of the nursing staff to ensure competency and to advance the skills and knowledge of the nursing staff.Collaborates with others to increase efficiency and reduce duplication of resources.Actively participates in Performance Improvement and Quality activities, projects, and nursing research studies via committees, councils, task forces, and conferences.Facilitates and promotes the integration of evidence-based practice, research, and tenants of Magnet.Develops, implements and evaluates policies, procedures, and standards.Advances, supports and facilitates certification of staff nurses on units.Provides education consultation for staff, nursing students, nursing managers, and others within the multi-disciplinary team.Participates in Councils, Committees, Task Forces and Work Groups at the unit, department, hospital and system level. This role involves setting up and taking down traffic control signs, cones, and barricades to ensure the safety of workers and the public. The Flagger uses hand signals, signs, and other traffic control devices to communicate with motorists and guide them safely through or around the work area. The position requires excellent attention to detail, the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, and the capability to stand for extended periods.
Job Duties:
Set up signs, cones, and other traffic control devices around work areas to divert traffic. Effectively manage traffic flow with stop/slow paddles. Maintain clear and effective communication with team members using two-way radios. Regularly required to stand and walk and reach with hands and arms for up to 10 hours a day. Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and move items over 50 pounds. Drive company vehicles to transport traffic control equipment to and from job sites. Perform routine vehicle inspections and maintenance checks to ensure vehicles are in good working condition. Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, moving equipment and machinery parts, moving traffic, fumes, and airborne particles. Noise level of the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Responsibilities: The Occupational Therapy Assistant student implements Occupational therapy programs and provides Occupational therapy treatments to patients to facilitate increased independence and functioning, under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist and/or Occupational Therapy Assistant.1. The Occupational Therapy Assistant Student will follow all Powerback Rehabilitation policy andprocedures outlined in the on-boarding and orientation process.2. The Occupational Therapy Assistant Student attends and contributes to patient care, staffingconferences and other required meetings as a representative of Occupational therapy, underthe direction of the Occupational Therapist and/or Occupational Therapy Assistant.3. The Occupational Therapy Assistant Student is responsible for the effective and efficient deliveryof rehab services; adherence to an established plan of care, department and patient(s)' schedule,and timely documentation of services with the supervision of the Clinical Instructor.4. The Occupational Therapy Assistant Student works with other members of therehabilitation team to develop programs and activities consistent with the needs andcapabilities of each patient with the supervision of the Clinical Instructor.5. The Occupational Therapy Assistant Student instructs patients, families and other caregivers inthe skills and techniques of the Occupational therapy treatment program under the supervisionof the Occupational Therapist and/or Occupational Therapy Assistant.6. The Occupational Therapy Assistant Student maintains appropriate and timely documentation for all patients treated with the supervision of the Clinical Instructor.7. The Occupational Therapy Assistant Student cleans, maintains, identifies, and reports the need for repair of equipment, as necessary with the supervision of the Clinical Instructor.8. The Occupational Therapy Assistant Student puts patient service first: ensures that patients andfamilies receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere whichrecognizes the individuals' needs and rights with the supervision of the Clinical Instructor.9. The Occupational Therapy Assistant Student implements patient's individualized treatment plan as established by the primary Occupational Therapist with the supervision of the Clinical Instructor.10. Under the supervision of the Clinical Instructor, the Occupational Therapy Assistant Studentprovides individualized Occupational therapy interventions including application of therapeutictechniques in such areas as, but not limited to:a. cognitive skillsb. muscle strengthc. coordinationd. endurancee. mobilityf. perceptual abilitiesg. sensory awarenessh. siting and standing tolerancei. balancej. activities of daily livingk. joint protectionl. work simplificationm. orientationn. physical agent modalities11. The Occupational Therapy Assistant Student organizes and facilitates treatment groups inconsultation with the Occupational Therapist and/or Occupational Therapy Assistant.12.
