About this unitThe Grosse Pointe Hospital Family Birth Center/Women’s Health Unit is comprised of 11 LDRP rooms, a Triage room, and a Natural Birth Suite. This Natural Birth Suite is used often by our Nurse Midwives and patients who want to enjoy a low intervention birth experience. In addition, adjacent to the FBC is a 9-bed unit that cares for gynecologic and medical patients. We also care for readmitted post-partum patients, newborns less than 28 days old, and low risk ante-partum patients. We are committed to ensuring professional, safe patient-family centered care for all our patients and their families. This facility is home to The James and Patricia Anderson Surgical Center, a leading-edge, hybrid surgical unit that offers advanced technologies to perform a wide variety of procedures.Scope of workThe RN, under the ANA scope of practice utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge. The RN provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures and recognizes the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes. The RN partners with and utilizes patient/family input and goals in planning plan of care and develops teaching strategies for patient/family; documents education and learning appropriately in health record.QualificationsAssociates in Nursing RequiredBachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years if new graduate/nurse with less than one (1) yearGraduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.MI Registered Nurse (RN) RequiredAHA, ARC Basic Life Support (BLS), or Canadian Heart and Stroke RequiredNRP within 6 months of hire/transferEFM Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification within 1 yearSpecialty Certification highly recommended within 2 yearsL&D RN experience preferred.
