We are looking for an experienced Traffic Control Technician to join our team!
The Traffic Control Technician is responsible for setting up and taking down lane closures and ensuring the safety of assigned traffic control projects. This role involves performing lane closures on state highways and other roadways, redirecting traffic for workers or survey crews, and working independently or as part of a traffic control crew. Additionally, the role also involves assembling, delivering, and picking up safety products from job sites, following contractor directions.
Operate company trucks to transport materials and equipment to job sites. Drive MOT (Management of Traffic) vehicle to and from projects and on work sites. Drive TMA (Truck Mounted Attenuator) vehicle to and from projects and on work sites to protect workers and work zones. Place temporary construction signs in work areas. Position arrow boards or variable message boards in work areas. Set up traffic cones and other traffic safety devices in work areas. Monitor the work zone throughout the shift to ensure items remain in their proper locations. Collect and load traffic control items at the beginning and end of shifts. Install, remove, and reset delineators, signs, posts, and supports. Perform shop work, including general maintenance and repair of equipment. Follow all safety rules and regulations to ensure a safe work environment. Adhere to all Company Policies and Procedures. Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Valid Driver’s License. 1-3 years of experience and 2,000 in field hours in traffic control. Must be able to pass a background check, including motor vehicle records check. Basic reading and writing ability to comply with road signs, complete paperwork, and knowledge of federal and state motor carrier safety regulations. Must be able to read plans and ensure traffic control plans are implemented and maintained. Good knowledge of state and local roadways and experience operating delivery vehicles of varying sizes. Ability to lift and move up to 70 pounds. Must successfully complete the ATSSA TCT intermediate training course. Willingness to travel statewide, with occasional overnight stays, and ability to work nights and weekends as required by projects. Must be available for a rotating on-call schedule. New hires start at 90% of the hourly rate $32.31, a wage increase goes into effect after 90 days of employment.SHIFT: Sunday - Thursday5:00 PM-1:30 AMESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Each item should account for 10% or more)Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace and complete all required repairs on diesel equipment (i.e., tractors, trailers, bobtails, reefers, lift gates, etc.).Perform preventative maintenance within company standards.Complete documentation of all repair orders, PM list and parts accountability.Handle road service calls; perform road rescue/transport equipment as needed.Keep track of assigned repairs by logging in and out of the Shop Fax system.Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with workplace safety rules and regulations and government guidelines.Maintain inventory and proper recordkeeping.Backup to other maintenance shop personnel.Willingness and capacity to assume increased responsibility and certifications.Performs other duties as assigned.RELATIONSHIPSInternal: VP of Operations, Transportation Manager, various other USF personnelExternal: Vendors, Parts and equipment delivery personnelQUALIFICATIONSEducation/Training:High school diploma or equivalent required.Related Experience/Requirements:A valid Class-A CDL license DOT certified preferred.Must have (7) years of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy duty commercial diesel mechanic or reefer mechanic or a combination of both; or (5) years verifiable hands-on experience with either Diesel Mechanic Certification or TK/Carrier Refrigeration Certification or both.Diagnostic and troubleshooting competency relating to equipment repairs.Successfully demonstrated independent analytical and problem-solving skills.Prior experience in administering appropriate PM program.Must furnish own personal hand tools.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Ability to comply with EPA and OSHA regulations as pertaining to the shop and fleet.Ability to read and understand technical and service manuals.Excellent communication skills; able to communicate with co-workers and drivers with demonstrated teamwork skills.Ability to manage multiple functions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs.Computer and software experience.Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.Must be able to work overtime when neededPhysical Requirements:JOB REQUIRES WORKER TO: 1. The expected base rate for this role is between $32.31 -$35.90.
