About the Units: 9 North at UPMC Montefiore is a 25-bedsurgical orthopedic and urology department, caring for patients with orthopedic trauma, spinal injuries, and injuries/conditions related to the upper extremities as well as urological patients.6F/Gis a 22-bed trauma and general surgery unit caring for very high acuity surgical patients as well as victims of severe trauma including blunt force and penetrating injuries. In caring for our patients,we utilize ventilators, therapeutic hypothermia, and CVVHD, manage multiple vasopressors and TBI, and perform emergent surgical procedures at the bedside. In addition, we admit overflow neurovascular and stroke patients, and patients with traumatic brain injury.Transitioning to the ICU is contingent on upon the employee’s performance during the first year of hire.
