San Jacinto College Central Pasadena Campus is seeking to hire an experienced Facilities Groundskeeper to help maintain the Central Campus. The HVAC Journeyman is expected to maintain and repair HVAC equipment in the district. Perform preventative maintenance on equipment to ensure optimum efficiency and extend equipment life. Also, perform HVAC installation, repair and maintenance as needed. Perform preventive maintenance work as required and in the priority directed. Support and adhere to the College Safety Program. Maintain quality standards as set by the District. Check and test control circuits; check and test pneumatic control systems; diagnose HVAC problems and remove, repair and replace faulty parts. Provide motor vehicle maintenance for the school bus, general purpose, and utility vehicle fleet.
Job Duties: Diagnose and repair all types of mechanical and electrical problems on school buses and all types of motor vehicles. Be the primary technician assigned to perform preventative maintenance and repairs, both major and minor for 20 School Buses and 20 Support Vehicles. Secure and maintain all assigned tools, parts and equipment. Substitute for any transportation employee as assigned by the supervisor. Maintain accurate records of all work performed. Comply with all safety measures and maintenance procedures as outlined in the department handbook. Substitute as a school bus driver when necessary. Perform other duties as assigned. Operates pressure washers, air compressor, tire machines, wheel balancer, bead setter, air jacks, air tools, grease guns and wrecker.
Qualifications: Minimum Education/Certification High School Graduate or GED. ASE Certification preferred. Must have five years experience working on trucks or buses. Must show proficiency and initiative as an expert mechanic. Possess or be able to obtain valid Class B Texas Commercial Driver’s License with all appropriate endorsements to drive a school bus within 120 days. Possess or be able to obtain valid Class A Texas Commercial Driver’s License will all appropriate endorsements to drive the district wrecker within 180 days. Be able to obtain a Vehicle State Inspection License.
Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to read and comprehend vehicle maintenance manuals. Ability to operate all types of vehicle maintenance equipment.

Primary job function is working on various types of railcars, barges and above ground storage tanks. Tasks include cleaning and washing railcars using high pressure equipment, product removal, performing minor maintenance repairs and/or parts replacement. Must be willing to follow customer, company, FRA, and AAR guidelines. We are a national mobile service company. Traveling locally and nationally will be required at times, and may spend nights in a hotel.
Experience not required; However, the ideal candidate will have experience in the industrial cleaning industry or experience in the Rail/ Barge and above ground storage tanks. Minimum 5-day work week subject to required overtime, on-call, and alternate shifts that may include weeknights, weekends, and holidays.
