This position is responsible for identifying and documenting physical conditions and features of channels and other District facilities for the Geographic Information Services (GIS) Department in accordance with the District’s mission to maintain the Infrastructure.
Essential Functions & Duties: Identify and document the condition of the District’s assets using hand-held computers, GPS equipment, and digital cameras. Create GIS data required for asset assessment in the field. Update asset data in the District's GIS databases. Responsible for implementing the construction phase of the District’s Capital Improvement and Maintenance projects, including administration of professional service contracts for material testing and construction consultants.
Essential Functions and Duties: Ensure quality assurance/quality control of the documentation provided with contractor’s pay estimates. Assist in review and evaluation of contractor’s cross-sections and measured quantities. Investigate and evaluate slope failures and earthen repairs in the field. Review progress reports, recommendations, notifications, confirmations, and other documents relating to construction projects prepared by field inspection personnel. Review material testing reports and invoices and recommend action as a result of failing tests. Attend pre-bid conferences and conduct pre-construction and progress meetings. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in civil engineering or a similar curriculum. Five (5) years of experience that includes any combination of engineering planning, design, and construction management. Experience with stormwater drainage design and construction. Valid Class "C" Texas Driver’s License Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Texas Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Bluebeam (preferred) Excellent written and verbal communication skills. To develop custom engineered solutions using non-standard applications of Powell standard products to safely and economically meet customer specifications.Posted position does not provide visa sponsorship or relocation.Job Description To create standard products with reference of using customer specifications to design Powell standard products.Design Power Control Rooms using Electrical Standards.Read and interpret customer job specifications.Order materials.Create drawings.Transmit drawings to shop and customer.Interface with sales, customer (with supervisor) and shop.Completed task are check by more senior engineers.Job RequirementsBS Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology or related area.Minimum 0-3 years of experience in an Engineering role.Ability to interact on a regular basis with shop personnel.Able to apply product knowledge and technical skills to solve simple application problems independently with minimum supervision.Basic computer skills using Oracle, Word, Excel.Ability to order material electronically.Advanced drafting/CAD skills, AutoCad preferredProficient with electrical design and circuitry.Able to read and interpret electrical symbols, characters, and modify drawings.Able to apply (told by others what it means and which code) NEC, ANSI, and Other as it applies to the day to day activity.Basic understanding of power system and relay applications as applied to products.Ability to apply industry standards as applicable to job and product.Innovative to improve existing products.Able to design one product in the most economical way while achieving quality.Attend in house and outside training sessions.Attend local professional associations.Learn policies and procedures, work instruction, ISO policies, Safety Rules and Regulations, and vendor products.Perform other related duties as assigned.Required Experience Is Proportionate With the Selected Job LevelThe Engineer level requires a Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline and 0-3 years of relevant job related experienceThe Senior Engineer level requires a Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline and 4-8 years of relevant job related experienceThe Lead Engineer level requires Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline and 7-10 years of relevant job related experienceWorking & Environmental Conditions The employee typically performs duties in a normal office environment. There will be some work in a shop environment and exposure to the elements of our shop.
