Privacy & Cybersecurity Associate Attorney

ABOUT THE ROLE

A sophisticated San Francisco technology and privacy practice is seeking a mid-level associate to advise technology companies, growth businesses, and other organizations navigating increasingly complex privacy, cybersecurity, and data-governance issues. The practice combines regulatory counseling with transactional and incident-response work, giving associates exposure to the business decisions behind privacy compliance rather than limiting them to narrow research assignments. You will work directly with clients on emerging data issues involving new products, artificial intelligence, digital platforms, and evolving state and federal requirements. Compensation ranges from $225,000-$365,000, depending on experience.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Advise companies on U.S. privacy, cybersecurity, data-protection, and data-governance requirements
• Counsel clients on California privacy requirements and other evolving state and federal privacy laws
• Review products, services, data practices, and business initiatives to identify privacy and cybersecurity risks
• Draft and negotiate privacy and data-security provisions in commercial agreements, technology transactions, and vendor relationships
• Develop privacy policies, data-governance frameworks, compliance programs, and practical guidance for business teams
• Support cybersecurity incident response, regulatory inquiries, internal investigations, and other sensitive data-related matters

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to the California Bar
• 3–6 years of privacy, cybersecurity, technology transactions, regulatory, or closely related experience
• Working knowledge of U.S. privacy and data-protection laws, including California privacy requirements
• Strong legal research, drafting, analytical, and client-counseling skills
• Experience advising technology companies or working on AI, digital products, cybersecurity incidents, or technology transactions is a plus
• Ability to translate complicated regulatory requirements into practical advice for legal and business stakeholders
