The HR Manager leads day-to-day Human Resources operations for multiple locations & entities.

This is a hands-on HR leadership role in a multi-entity hospitality environment. The HR Manager works closely with managers and employees and oversees the HR team in recruiting, employee relations, investigations, compliance, benefits, leave administration, training, workers’ compensation, documentation, and HR systems.

This is not a corporate desk role. The ideal candidate is visible, responsive, practical, and comfortable working directly with hospitality teams across hotel, restaurant, winery, tasting room, culinary, events, and administrative departments.

Recruiting and Talent Management

Oversee recruiting for hourly, management, and key operational roles

Support job postings, screening, interviews, offers, onboarding, and hiring paperwork

Personally recruit and interview management-level candidates

Employee Relations and Investigations

Serve as the main HR contact for managers and employees

Handle employee concerns, workplace complaints, and policy issues

Conduct fair, timely, and well-documented investigations

Interview employees and witnesses, review records, document findings, and recommend next steps

Performance Management

Support managers with attendance, performance, conduct, and policy issues

Ensure issues are addressed and documented promptly

Review warnings, performance improvement plans, and termination documentation

Compliance and Wage & Hour

Maintain strong knowledge of California employment law, especially in hospitality

Monitor compliance with meal and rest breaks, overtime, timekeeping, and off-the-clock rules

Leaves, Benefits, and Accommodations

Oversee leave administration, tracking, notices, and communication

Manage compliance with FMLA, CFRA, Pregnancy Disability Leave, paid sick leave, workers’ compensation leave, and other protected leaves

Coordinate benefit enrollment, changes, and employee questions

Workers’ Compensation and Safety

Oversee workers’ compensation claims from reporting through return to work

Ensure injury reporting and documentation are completed on time

Communicate with employees, managers, insurance carriers, and providers

HR Systems and Documentation

Maintain organized, complete, and compliant HR records

Ensure status changes, compensation changes, transfers, promotions, and terminations are documented accurately

Oversee ADP Workforce Now and related HR systems

Ensure consistent onboarding and offboarding processes

• Several years of progressive human resources experience, including leadership responsibility in a fast-paced operating environment.
• Strong working knowledge of employee relations, investigations, benefits administration, leave management, and HR compliance requirements.
• Experience supporting multi-department or multi-location teams, preferably within hospitality, food and beverage, hotel, winery, or event-driven operations.
• Ability to work directly with frontline employees and managers in a highly visible, hands-on capacity rather than a purely office-based role.
• Proficiency with HRIS platforms and standard HR administrative processes, including documentation and reporting.
• Strong communication and judgment skills with the ability to handle sensitive matters professionally and confidentially.
• Flexibility to adjust work hours when needed to support business operations, including occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays.
