Senior Accounts Receivable Specialist

Position Summary

The Senior Accounts Receivable Specialist owns the day-to-day accounts receivable process for Northedge Steel. This is a hands-on position focused on timely collections, accurate cash application, account reconciliation, reliable reporting, and practical process improvements. The person in this role works directly with customers and partners across Sales, Scheduling, Operations, and Accounting to resolve issues, protect cash flow, and keep customer accounts accurate. This position does not currently supervise employees.

What You Will Own

· Manage assigned customer accounts from invoicing through final payment and account resolution.

· Review aging reports, prioritize past-due balances, and maintain consistent customer follow-up until payment is received.

· Communicate professionally with customers regarding invoices, balances, payment commitments, disputes, and account status.

· Apply cash receipts and customer deposits accurately and research unapplied, short, duplicate, or misapplied payments.

· Reconcile customer accounts and supporting records, identify discrepancies, and coordinate timely corrections.

· Confirm required deposits, financing approvals, and customer balances before projects move to the next operational stage.

· Prepare clear AR reporting, including aging, collections activity, payment commitments, disputed balances, and account risk.

· Support month-end close through reconciliations, reporting, documentation, and resolution of outstanding items.

· Partner with Sales, Scheduling, Operations, and Accounting to resolve billing or payment issues without losing ownership of follow-up.

· Identify recurring AR problems and improve processes, documentation, controls, and visibility.

· Maintain accurate, organized, and audit-ready customer account records while protecting confidential financial information.

What We Are Looking For

· Three or more years of hands-on accounts receivable, collections, cash application, reconciliation, or related accounting experience.

· Demonstrated ability to manage an aging portfolio and follow through on payment commitments and account issues.

· Strong attention to detail and confidence researching account activity to find and correct discrepancies.

· Professional and firm customer communication skills, including comfort discussing past-due balances and disputed invoices.

· Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and experience using an accounting or ERP system.

· Ability to organize competing priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently while communicating issues early.

· Good judgment regarding when to resolve an issue independently and when to escalate financial risk.

Preferred Experience

· Experience in manufacturing, construction, building materials, or another project-based business.

· Experience with Acumatica or a similar ERP system.

· Experience improving AR workflows, reports, controls, or collection processes.

· Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field; equivalent experience will also be considered.

· Consistent, documented follow-up on past-due and high-risk accounts.

· Accurate cash application, reconciliations, and customer account records.

· Timely resolution of disputes, unapplied payments, and account discrepancies.

· Reliable reporting that gives leadership clear visibility into receivables and collection risk.

· Stronger AR processes that reduce errors, delays, and repeated follow-up.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $50,000 to $70,000 per year, based on relevant experience and demonstrated ability. Northedge Steel also offers medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid holidays, paid time off, and a 401(k) plan in accordance with applicable plan and eligibility requirements.
