Controller

Skate One Corp, an industry leading skateboard manufacturer celebrating its 50thyear in the Santa Barbara-Goleta area, is seeking a highly motivated Controller to oversee the company’s financial operations, including cash flow management, reporting and compliance.

Primary duties include, but not limited to the following:

· Maintain corporate accounting records; AP, AR, Inventory, JE, GL and tax returns

· Process month-end, quarterly, year-end closing and financial statements

· Manage daily cash movement of payment remittances and bank deposits

· Supervise accounting assistant

· Reconcile weekly bank statements

· Weekly review of AR due invoices and reminders sent to customers

· Approve weekly payments by third party administrator for medical insurance claims and fund monthly reserve account balance

· Bi-weekly payroll funding, reports and journal entries

· Issue monthly stipend payments and quarterly royalties to sponsored skaters

· Reconcile corporate cardholders’ monthly expenses

· File quarterly sales and use tax returns

· Compute monthly purchase commission on China imports for reconciliation and payment

· Submit monthly reports and periodic financials to the bank

· Compile financials and records for annual bank audit

· Provide year-end financials, reports and documents to the CPA for annual tax filing

· Cost accounting; periodic labor and burden calculations

· Liaison to landlords and sublease tenant; rent, utilities, operating expenses and miscellaneous issues

· Coordinate with licensed broker for annual insurance renewal of property, casualty and general liability coverage, including yearly audit review by carrier

· Prepare annual filing of 1099 tax forms and 1042 tax forms; maintain W9s and W8s

· Prepare and file annual property statements for four locations in two counties

· Submission of duty drawback filing and audit review of export records by claim advisor

Qualifications and Experience:

· 5-7 years of related experience

· Proficiency in accounting software, excel and financial regulations

· Cost accounting experience

· Understand GAAP

· Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

· Excellent communication and leadership skills with high level of commitment

Education:

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or economics
