Electrical Engineering Design Engineer
SimVentions is a 100% employee-owned business and has consistently been voted one of Virginia's Best Places to Work. We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to support a government/contractor team on-site at Dahlgren Naval base in Dahlgren, VA
Responsibilities:
- Provide journeyman level Electrical Engineering support to a complex and fast moving DoD program with real world impacts
- Will interface with other co-workers in a cross-functional team structure to translate end-user requirements into functional designs
- Will own the design process for one or more assigned projects and interface with vendors on specifications for printed circuit board manufacturing and assembly of designs
- Will apply knowledge and experience (5+ years) in Electrical Engineering processes, design, development, and testing
- Will apply knowledge and experience as a hardware developer in a DoD/SOF/FLE related organization
Required Skills & Experience:
5+ years of experience as an Electrical Engineer
2 years experience with PCB layout software (Altium or equivalent)
2 years experience with analog and digital circuit design as well as PCB layout and analysis
Demonstrated ability to plan and design project work to meet project objectives and requirements
Demonstrated experience utilizing industry standard Computer Aided Design (CAD) products for
documenting system designs such as Altium, Agilent ADS, LT Spice, MATLAB, LabVIEW, CST, or HFSS (This includes experience developing technical data packages and documentation in accordance with DoD standards and instruction)
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout software (Altium is preferred)
- Experience with analog and digital circuit design
- Experience with PCB layout and analysis
- Experience with RF circuit/antenna design and test methodologies
- Experience with inspection, test methodologies, diagnostic equipment, and software tools to analyze and resolve electrical engineering issues
- Experience with LTSpice or other circuit simulation environments
- Experience with low-power circuit design
- Experience writing embedded firmware for microprocessors
- Knowledge of wireless communications (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC) and/or commercial satellite communications architecture
- Familiarity with FPGA and ASIC logic design and hardware integration
Education: A Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university is required
Clearance: A Secret Clearance is required for this position. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. US Citizenship is required to obtain a clearance.
Travel: Limited travel may be necessary

Compensation at SimVentions is determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, training, security clearance, work location, skills, knowledge, and competencies, as well as alignment with our corporate compensation plan and contract specific requirements.
The projected annual compensation range for this position is $90,000 - $155,000 (USD). This estimate reflects the standard salary range for this position and is just one component of the total compensation package that SimVentions offers.
