Job Summary and Qualifications

SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS*

  • Collaborates with physicians and other departments to coordinate the needs of patients and their families.
  • Manages resources in a fiscally responsible manner.
  • Supports the mission and vision of the facility, division and company.
  • Ensures quality care through the initiation and evaluation of patient care utilizing performance improvement process. Provides leadership for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care and safety in assigned areas or responsibility-including radiation therapists, registered nurses . physics and dosimetry, and medical office staff
  • Assists the Director of Oncology in managing operations.
  • Assures that productivity meets the standard daily by ensuring the correct number of technologists are present for the number of procedures.
  • Ensures the department has the necessary equipment and supplies for daily operations.
  • Responsible for the monthly schedule for employees, assists in Kronos documentation and Lawson documentation.
  • Leads hiring new employees, creating annual budgets and in coaching and corrective actions, as well as performs other duties as assigned.
  • Regularly reviews departmental functions/equipment/processes-patient flow, documentation, billing/coding practices and purchasing that these processes and functioning appropriately. Involves the staff in problem solving and implementing new practices as needed.
  • Monitors departmental staff/hospital required education to ensure compliance.
  • Reviews and maintains department statistics.

EXPERIENCE

Shift Times: 230p-11p Thursday through Sunday.

REQUIRED:

Prior experience as a Radiation Oncology manager and 3-5 year of experience as a Radiation Therapist OR One year on oncology nursing experience and 2 years of general medical-surgical nursing required.

PREFFERED: RN with experience in radiation oncology

Must be able to operate the simulator; Dept. Treatment Information System and treatment machines.

EDUCATION

Requirements -Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists: ARRT, (T) Radiation Therapist

Graduate of AMA approved school of radiation therapy technology, certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Experience in delivering Radiation Therapy treatments; Simulations OR Valid Virginia Nursing License required.

PREFERRED: Oncology Certification Nurse (OCN)

What qualifications you will need:
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Registered Radiographer (ARRT)
  • Vocational School Graduate
