Summary
Mechanic B-Electrical Shop Electricians conduct general and specialized installation, maintenance and repair on various types of electrical equipment.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Must present one of the following: New Jersey Electrical License, Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship Electrician from the NJ Department of Labor Office of ApprenticeshipORfive (5) years of electrical experience in commercial, industrial and/or residential environments.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, wiring diagrams, schematics, construction drawings, etc.
- Experience with troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems.
- Must pass New Jersey Transit’s Electrician Aptitude Test.
- Present a valid driver’s license andHigh School Diploma or GED.
- Successfully pass the pre-screening process including drug test, physical, and criminal, employer, and driving background checks.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
- Installing low or medium voltage equipment, panels, motors, controls, etc.
- Installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic systems, PLC’s, Controllers, Computers, Alarms, PA’s, etc.
- Test equipment such as multi-meters, insulation testing, phasing, etc.
- Using and understanding code requirements, including NEC, NESC, OSHA, IEEE, NFPA, etc.
- Prior railroad, transportation, or military experience
Physical Requirements
- Stoop, bend, crawl, balance, climb, kneel
- Be exposed to equipment that intensifies the heat factor on an occasional basis
- Wear protective equipment such as hardhat, safety glasses, and safety-toe boots
