What You Will Enjoy Doing

Main Purpose of the Job:

ALPLA’s paid, cohort-based internship program offers students the opportunity to gain valuable real-world work experience through customized assignments aligned with their interests and fields of study. Interns will enhance and showcase their skills by engaging in significant and impactful projects. The Human Resources intern will collaborate on key projects and initiatives with the HR Manager and the Plant team.

Develop and Maintain HR Compliance Knowledge

  • Begin to acquire a solid understanding of current HR laws and regulations.
  • Stay informed about new advancements and updates in the HR industry.
  • Gain familiarity with HR information databases and other searchable resources.
  • Keep up-to-date with document retention standards and requirements.

HR Administration

  • Assist in maintaining employee records and HR databases.
  • Support the HR Manager in daily administrative tasks and projects.
  • Help organize and manage new employee orientation, onboarding, and training programs.

Recruitment Support

  • Post job advertisements
  • Screen resumes and applications to identify qualified candidates.
  • Coordinate and schedule interviews with candidates and hiring managers.

Employee Relations

  • Assist in planning and organizing employee engagement activities and events.
  • Support HR initiatives aimed at fostering a positive workplace culture.

Employee Health and Safety

  • Assist in the coordination of workplace health and safety programs.
  • Help maintain records of workplace incidents and safety training.
  • Support the implementation of wellness initiatives and activities.

Special Projects

  • Participate in HR projects and research as assigned.
  • Provide support in the implementation of HR software and technology solutions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the HR department.

What Makes You Great

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or in the process of obtaining a degree in Human Resources
  • 1+ years of experience working in an office environment is a plus.
  • A fundamental comprehension of the relevant labor laws.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Must demonstrate strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Must possess well-developed organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and behave in a professional manner
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with superiors, co- workers, and individuals inside and outside the Company
  • Good computer skills
