KARL STORZ United States is currently recruiting a Senior Payroll Analyst who will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of biweekly and monthly payroll and act as the subject matter expert for questions/resolution related to the ADP WFN payroll system, payroll accounting, company policies, as well as compliance of federal and state regulations as they relate to payroll tax, wage and hour laws, and garnishments.

The Senior Payroll Analyst provides support to the Payroll Supervisor, Senior Payroll Manager and is primary back up for the Senior Payroll Specialist and the Payroll Tax Compliance Specialist roles. This role will be based at our El Segundo, CA office and work a hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Generate and analyze payroll reports to provide insights into payroll expenses and other trends and anomalies.
  • Prepare, analyze, and distribute regular and ad hoc payroll reports to relevant stakeholders
  • Research, analyze and resolve payroll related inquiries, problems, and general questions.
  • Assist in the collection of and/or audit the collection and balancing of time data from Dimensions timekeeping, for multiple companies, following set desk procedures.
  • Adhere to routine procedures related to processing biweekly, monthly, bonus, and quarter/year-end (OOS/Adjustment) payrolls.
  • Compute wages and overtime payments, calculating and recording payroll deductions, and processing manual pay requests
  • Drive the audit of all financial, tax, and payroll reports for both internal and external purposes.
  • Drive the development of new desk procedures, utilizing knowledge of internal systems as well as local, state, and federal policies and regulations, to help strengthen departmental controls.
  • Perform regular internal data integrity audits for various payroll areas and prepare materials for external or internal auditors.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with all business partners.
  • Produce and implement best practices and cost reduction initiatives related to payroll processing, creatively and innovatively.
  • Run/review/audit payroll data to ensure adherence to internal controls.
  • Reconcile quarterly and annual ADP tax filings and ensure accurate W-2 reporting (using every payroll register recap/balancing).
  • Year-end tasks, including W-2c and amending of tax return(s).
  • Ensure timely processing of all garnishments and maintain compliance with all state and regulatory requirements.
  • Initiate continuous review/research/troubleshooting of all system related issues, working with IT as appropriate.
  • Process manual pays/checks following set procedures and ensure compliance.
  • Administer and participate in cross-training.
  • Perform other duties and participate or drive special projects, as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of payroll experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of analyst experience.
  • CPP designation strongly preferred.
  • Experience processing payroll for minimum 2500 multi-state employees, including commissions
  • Solid understanding of the federal Fair Labor Standards Act and regular rate of pay.
  • Advanced knowledge of payroll and general accounting practices
  • Experience working with all 50-states, Puerto Rico a plus.
  • Ability to interpret, explain and comply with prescribed laws, rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Proficient knowledge of Excel and all MS Office products.
  • Experience working with business intelligence software, Tableau or Power BI a plus.
  • Technical knowledge of ADP payroll database systems (ADPWorkforce Now preferred), including SAP, and Dimensions applications.
  • Ability to analyze complex data sources (sets) and identify trends and anomalies.
  • Ability to deliver findings and insights effectively through reports, dashboards, and professional presentations.
  • Stay atop of the latest tools, technologies, and methodologies in data analysis and continuously improve analytical processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Proven ability to work under tight deadlines and manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are accurate and timely.
  • Extremely strong time management and organization skills.
  • Ability to work independently and also thrive in a team environment.
