Job Description

CAI Learning Academy, a small private school in Allentown, Pennsylvania, is seeking a dedicated and passionate Early Childhood Classroom Teacher to join our team caring for the children of CAI LA employees who range in age from 6 weeks of age to 5 years old. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating a nurturing and stimulating educational environment for the pre-k aged group. This role involves developing and implementing age-appropriate curriculum, fostering social and emotional development, and collaborating with parents and staff to support each child's growth.

Core hours for this position are Monday - Friday, 8am - 4pm.

What You'll Do

  • Curriculum Development and Implementation: design and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum that meets the needs of children aged 3-5. Create engaging lesson plans that incorporate play-based learning, hands-on activities, and educational experiences. Utilize a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles

  • Classroom Management: maintain a safe, organized, and inclusive classroom environment. Establish and enforce classroom rules and routines that promote positive behavior and respect. Monitor and assess the developmental progress of each child, providing individualized support as needed.

  • Child Development: foster a nurturing and supportive atmosphere that encourages social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. Promote positive interactions among children, helping them develop essential social skills. Address and support the diverse needs of children, including those with special needs or developmental delays

  • Communication and Collaboration: maintain open and effective communication with parents, providing regular updates on their child's progress and addressing any concerns. Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to create a cohesive and supportive educational community. Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events

  • Record Keeping and Reporting: maintain accurate and up-to-date records of each child's progress, attendance, and behavior. Prepare and present progress reports and assessments to parents and administrators.

What You'll Need

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field

  • Strong understanding of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Preferred:

  • Pennsylvania state teaching certification in Early Childhood Education (preferred)

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching in an early childhood setting is preferred

Physical Demands

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state and local standards

  • Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.

  • Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds

  • Ability to stand, sit, and move around the classroom for extended periods
