Registered Nurse Pre Anesthesia Testing for Part Time Days

What We Are Looking For
Lake Granbury Medical Center’s PAT Department is now hiring a part-time Registered Nurse for Pre Anesthesia Testing to work in our thriving 73 bed acute care hospital. RN is responsiblefor carrying out the patient intake process, obtaining required medical clearance information, and performing necessary assessments to determine if the patient is a candidate for surgery atLake Granbury Medical Center and Ambulatory Surgery Center.

What You Will Do
The PAT RN is responsible for implementing all of the following:

Essential Functions Statement(s)

1. Manage the patient intake process and perform assessment to obtain medical history

2. Determine patient needs for pre-admission testing

3. Knowledge of anesthetic agents and narcotics as necessary to coordinate all aspects of nursing care and teaching between patients, families and surgical team to achieve desired outcomes

4. Serve as liaison between patients and other healthcare providers to obtain patient medical clearance as necessary or when required

5. Evaluate, plan, implement, and document care, observations, and medical history

6. Knowledge of Perioperative and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) nursing procedures to assist in these areas as needed

7. Regular and predictable attendance

8. Ability to work in a cooperative manner with others

9. Perform other duties as assigned

Required skills:

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Strong knowledge base relative to surgery procedures and management of the surgical patient
  • Ability to care for patients from pediatric to geriatrics
  • Excellent teaching skills

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited school of nursing
  • Currently certified as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas
  • Current BLS
  • Must obtain ACLS, PALS, and NIH stroke certification within 3 months of hire date

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
  • Previous PAT experience

Working Hours:

  • 20 hours a week - Days of the week dependent on case load Monday -Friday 8am - 5pm
