What’s involved in this role:
We are looking for a Strategic Sourcing Category Manager in Appleton, WI, Milwaukee, WI or Minneapolis, MN. Hybrid available,
The Strategic Sourcing Category Manager will support the development of a successful procurement program across category management, sourcing events, contract negotiations, risk mitigation, contingency planning, and supplier performance for the Canadian and US business representing approximately $75M+ in annual spend.
Reporting to and partnering with the Senior Manager Packaging, build a packaging procurement strategy that will enable Agropur to achieve its short-term and long-term goals.
Build strong and strategically focused relationships with business stakeholders, other Procurement team members and external partners to facilitate the delivery of top tier results without unnecessary disruptions to the business. Increase the influence and role of Procurement across various business teams and ensure alignment of priorities and expected results with all stakeholders.
Deliver cost savings by conducting collaboratively managed sourcing events, negotiations, and other creative approaches, such as re-engineering specifications, multi-year deals, shared savings opportunities with customers and single sourcing versus multi-sourcing considerations (while balancing contingency planning considerations).
Together and with support to the business, establishes long-term procurement strategies based on the needs of the organization:
Defines the best procurement approach.
Leads and manages tenders, supplier selections, contract negotiations and formalization, procurement and planning strategies, monitoring of supplier performance, etc.
Proposes cost-saving projects and innovative strategies for value creation.
Develops strategies related to risk management in collaboration with the various internal stakeholders.
Manage and activate projects.
Lead supplier relationship management (SRM) for those suppliers identified while driving continuous improvement of top spend categories. Ensure spend under active management KPIs are met and contracts are in place where possible and appropriate.
Propose projects to the company to deliver innovative solutions that improve efficiency, along with comprehensive case studies showing potential increases in revenue, EBITDA and capital expenditures.
What you need to join our team:
Packaging in the food industry experience is highly preferred.
Bachelor's Degree in a related field required.
Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
Minimum five (5) years of experience in procurement required.
Experience in supply chain, operations, finance, or data analytics preferred.
Direct procurement experience is an asset.
