Job Purpose

Honda Aero LLC in Burlington, NC is search for a member who will be over quality engineering, responsible for the activities associated with product quality and engineering activities related to in-house manufacturing, supplier supplied parts and overall supplier quality control. Assure compliance to design criteria, quality standards, and production requirements for parts and equipment used to manufacture aircraft engine components. Support new hardware and process development to ensure sufficient maturation and past problem prevention. Develop and lead associates toward growth and accountability. Lead Business Plan activities associated with in house manufacturing and supplier quality and new product introduction.

Key Accountabilities

  • Assistant Manager for quality engineers, provide guidance and support.
  • Non-conforming material support – NCMR system. Review all NMCRs submitted by PQEs for completeness and correctness. Final review of substantiation from design engineers prior to supplier notification.
  • Corrective action and preventative action lead for the quality engineering team. Work with team and suppliers to make sure all CAPAs are managed and moved to closure in timely fashion.
  • Supplier and production support, lead team in support of supplier quality activity.
  • First article and source substation overview for the quality engineering team, ensure consistency and completeness.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

Minimum Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, etc) or equivalent experience in the manufacturing field.

Minimum Experience

  • Five to ten years' experience in manufacturing quality role with some quality or inspection experience
  • Prior leadership or development/ mentoring experience
  • Computer skills Microsoft Suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

  • Must be able to understand drawings and specifications with ability to communicate technical information effectively.
  • Good interpersonal skills with ability to motivate and manage a team of quality engineers.
  • Experience with CAD/ Catia and working knowledge of gauging, calibration, GD&T and CMM
  • Experience in product nonconformance dispositions - MRB and product first article review and approval is a plus
  • Knowledge of AS9100 Quality Standard requirements

Working Conditions

  • Climate-controlled office environment.
  • The performance of this position will require exposure to the manufacturing areas where personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection, and safety shoes are required.
  • Less than 10% travel.
