Works in conjunction with the Director of Pharmacy to develop, organize, implement, monitor and review all activities supporting clinic medication use. Clinic medication use scope includes, but is not limited to, clinical practice advancement and partnership with provider practices, formulary compliance and standardization as will as distribution for the health system. Provides leadership to ensure the goals and policies of the department are in congruence with Essentia Health. Develops the model of practice for pharmacy care. Provides strategic planning for the department, and assures fiscal management of services in accordance with budget expectations and projected revenues. Assures pharmacy services are provided at the highest quality to ensure optimal patient outcomes. May work on-line as needed as a pharmacist.

Education Qualifications:

Educational Requirements:

Acute:

  • Graduate of a college of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council of Pharmacy Education

Ambulatory:

  • A Doctorate or Bachelor degree in pharmacy from a college of pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education. Demonstrated leadership in pharmacy services.

Required Qualifications:

Acute:

  • Minimum of three years health system pharmacy experience.

Ambulatory:

  • Graduate Degree or a Minimum of three years’ experience as a Pharmacist in Charge or Supervising Pharmacist

Licensure/Certification Qualifications:

Certification/Licensure Requirements:

  • Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist by the Board of Pharmacy of the state in which they will be working (Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota)

If not licensed as a Registered Pharmacist upon hire, the candidate must have a Pharmacy Intern License and/or is eligible to work as an intern and must become a Registered Pharmacist within 90 days of hire:

  • Minnesota: Must be licensed as a Pharmacy Intern through the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy
  • Wisconsin: In the final months of a Pharmacy program. No registration required
  • North Dakota: Must be registered as a Pharmacy Intern through the North Dakota Board of Pharmacy
  • Ongoing continuing education and license renewal as required by the state's Board of Pharmacy.
