Overview:
The Trauma Nurse Clinician is a key role in resuscitation and coordination of all aspects of the care of the trauma patient including clinical care in initial trauma activations, serving as a resource person for staff, communication with the families, communicating with referral facilities, organizing care amongst the sub-specialist physicians while assuring movement through the system. Implementing continuous performance improvement measures to ensure optimal trauma care is provided. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
Qualifications:
Education: Graduate of an accredited registered professional nursing program
Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.
Experience:Three years of RN clinical patient care experience in Emergency Department, ICU, EMS, or Flight setting.
Certifications:Must obtain TNCC within 6 months of hire/transfer. Must obtain ACLS/PALS within 3 months of hire/transfer.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Must have excellent communication skills. Work well with minimal direction. Have extensive knowledge of the Health System as well as knowledge of trauma. Serve as a resource to staff, families and physicians. Have the ability to defuse stressful situations and handle multiple tasks. Good problem-solving skills as well as being resourceful.
Working Conditions, Mental and Physical Requirements: Ability to deal with stressful situations. Standing/walking for long periods of time.
Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree
Preferred Certification/Registration: TCRN, CEN, CCRN, etc.
Preferred Skills and Knowledge: Trauma Registry Knowledge, Excel knowledge
