JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Assistant Controller will support the Controller in managing the accounting operations of the company. This includes assisting with the preparation of financial reports, maintaining accounting records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting the overall financial strategy of the organization. This role requires strong leadership, technical accounting expertise, and the ability to drive process improvements.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Financial Reporting and Analysis:
    • Assist in the preparation of financial statements.
    • Analyze financial data and create reports for management, highlighting key insights and trends.
  • Prepare management reports and presentations to support decision-making.
  • Accounting Operations:
    • Supervise the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, cash application, and bank reconciliation.
    • Oversee the general ledger and ensure the accuracy and completeness of accounting records.
    • Ensure accurate and timely completion of month-end and year-end close processes.
    • Oversee the reconciliation of bank statements and perform balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Compliance and Internal Controls:
    • Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and company policies.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of internal controls to safeguard company assets.
    • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting function.
    • Assist in the implementation of new accounting software or systems, as needed.
  • Develop and update accounting policies and procedures.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive team environment.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
    • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial information.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA certification preferred.
  • Healthcare experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience, with at least 1 year in supervisory or management role.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
