SUMMARY
Performs nuclear medicine procedures and related techniques and procedures images for interpretation by and at the direction of a physician or licensed provider utilizing radionuclides. Provides appropriate patient care and exercise professional judgement ensuring successful completion of procedure. Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental protocols and policies, as well as, objectives and initiatives.

SCHEDULE: Monday-Fridays, Day Shift, No Call, No Weekends, No Holidays
ATTRIBUTES
- Minimum 3 years of working as a nuclear medicine technologist.
- Preferred BS Degree in Nuclear Medicine or completion of certificate program from the accredited school of Nuclear Medicine.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Utilizes protective shielding and prescribed safety standards for radioactive sources in accordance with department policies and NYSDOH regulations (i.e.: use of syringe shields, leaded containers and gloves, lab coats, wears film badge and ring badge). Demonstrates work habits that support the principles of ALARA.
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding to select, prepare and assay radioisotopes according to manufacturer’s direction and radiation safety policies and procedures.
- Responsible for ordering prescribed radioisotopes and cold kits as needed per schedule. Maintains records of radioisotope receipt, use, storage and disposal in accordance with department protocols and NYSDOH regulations (including performing surveys, wipe tests).
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding to effectively operate, perform and document quality control procedures on nuclear medicine and accessory equipment; troubleshoot problems; communicate failure or breakdown
- Perform routine department maintenance (cleaning, restocking supplies, archiving patient’s image data, notifying supervisor of low inventory)
- Accepts responsibility for on call status as assigned.
- Shedules nuclear medicine procedure according to department protocols.
- Verify patient identification with order/requisition; obtains and documents pertinent medical history; verifies and documents pregnancy and breast feeding status when applicable, completes Nuclear Medicine worksheet based on department standards.
- Prepares patients and perform procedures according to department protocols including venipuncture; utilizing clinical indications to assess appropriateness of procedure and consulting with the provider/radiologist for order verification, as needed
- Able to monitor and manipulate PACS and CareConnect Systems based on current Department standards.
- Completes annual competencies and RRH mandatory annual requirements. Participates in all planned meeting, internal training/education sessions as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
•Graduate of an approved nuclear medicine program or completion of an accredited School of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
Required Licensure/Certification Skills:
• NYS License in Nuclear Medicine.
• NMTCB and/or ARRT (N).
• BLS/CPR certification.

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
