SUMMARY
As a Mammo Tech Senior, you are to demonstrate excellent customer service, communication skills and obtain quality positioning and imaging quality studies while providing maximum comfort and safety to patients. Warm and comforting patient care skills is mandatory for these sensitive procedures. Training clinical staff and lend support to the broader mammography team.
STATUS:Ful-Time
LOCATION: Rotating between Ambulatory sites
DEPARTMENT: Radiology
SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, Day Shift, Occasional Saturday
ATTRIBUTES
• BLS Certification.
• Prior Radiologic Technologist experience.
• ARRT Advanced Mammography Certification (ARRT-M).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and ability to work various software applications.
• Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Maintains accountability for proper documentation of exams and related procedures utilizing the RIS/PACS and in patient charts as necessary.
• Performs screening, diagnostic, and/or assists in performing mammographic procedures.
• Monitors image quality on a continuous basis to ensure that all image quality is within alignment with the ACR quality standards. (American College of Radiology).
• Monitors equipment for proper performance and functionality.
• Performs daily and periodic Mammography QA activities under the direct supervision of the Mammo QA technologist.
• Performs all exams based on imaging department protocols or protocols the exam with the radiologist.
• Follows policies & procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients, public and staff.
• Performs hand off when other team members will be involved with patient care.
• Assists trains, or cross-trains imaging team members as directed.
• Responsible for pre-work- reviewing studies to ensure readiness prior to patient’s arrival.
• Cleans, restocks and prepares rooms on a daily basis.
• Attends hospital and departmental meetings and in-services.
• Practices excellent customer service behaviors.
• Practices radiation safety, adhering to ALARA principles.
• Team member may be asked to work at another RRH imaging location according to staffing needs.
• Assists or rotates to other imaging modalities when required and within the scope of licensure and/or registry.
• Reaches out for assistance when technical issues including PAC and image transfer need to be addressed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Two year college degree in Radiologic Technologist in Applied Science or equivalent.
- Two years’ experience as a Mammography Technologist.
Required licensure/certification:
- NYS license in Radiologic Technology.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Certification (ARRT-R).
