Job Summary

The Surgical Technician is accountable for assisting the surgical team to provide patient care for assigned patients under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse. Performs all duties and responsibilities in such a way as to demonstrate and support the hospital's Catholic heritage and Avera co-sponsorship values of hospitality, compassion and stewardship. Provides care/service in accordance with regulatory and accrediting agencies standards and Catholic Ethical and Religious Directives.

Education and/or Experience

  • Technical Degree

  • Graduate from a surgical technology program accredited through ARC/STSA in collaboration with the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).

Licensure/Certification/Registration

    • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).
    • Basic Life Support certification (BLS) within 30 days of employment.

    Preferred License/Certification

    • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRST) within one year of employment.

Work Schedule

  • Varied 8-hour day shifts, 80 hours every 2 weeks
    • Weekend: on-call every 4th weekend and one day a week
    • Holiday: on-call every 4th holiday

Pay

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

  • $23.25 - $34.00 per hour
