Job Summary and Qualifications

We are currently seeking a OR Surgical Tech Student to join our team. As our OR Surgical Tech Student you areprimarily responsible for assisting surgical services team members with patient care as directed.

What will you do in this role:

  • Demonstrates knowledge and application of patient transport, patient preparation, and Perioperative Services equipment.
  • Assists with the assembling and staging of equipment, supplies, and instrumentation.
  • May have access to the POS room or designated areas to transport, assemble, and stock inventory of non-scheduled drugs and biologicals to include but not limited to fluids, sterile water, normal saline, and irrigations.
  • Promotes and displays a positive customer oriented demeanor to patients, visitors, staff, and physicians.
  • Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care, or the services delivered.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues.
  • Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patients care which results in patient harm.
  • Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited Surgical Tech program, required
  • 1+ year of healthcare experience, preferred
  • High School Graduate or equivalent, required
  • BLS or BCLS - American Red Cross or American Heart Association within 30 days of hire, required
