Maintenence Manager
Summary of the Position:
The Maintenance Manager oversees the employee staff within the departments of their responsibility to ensure the departmental goals and targets are met. These areas are but not limited to; completing facilities, grounds and maintenance work schedules, employee selection, training, performance evaluation, rewarding & counseling employees in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. This position is critical for achieving customer service, plant efficiency and facility objectives. Completes these tasks by performing the following duties personally or through others.
Key Deliverables:
Works safely and supports safety within their team across the organization, timely completion of projects and reports, maintains departmental targets, processes and files, optimizes department production schedules, develops skilled and well trained employees, ensures excellent customer service, and inventory accuracy.
Key Accountability Metrics
Safety metrics, Quality metrics, Work Order fill rate target, Machine uptime, and Facility performance, PM completion rates, training program, Employee reviews, EBITB, employee turnover and communications.

Directly Supervise Maintenance/Machine Shop/Die Shop Area’s – 50%
- Monitors weekly and Monthly department schedules and support in the manufacturing environment
- Recommends/Sets and monitors departmental goals for areas assigned
- Recommends/Sets and monitors departmental budgets for areas assigned
- Ensures all work orders are properly maintained and closed in a timely manner in SAP
- Initiates and manages the effectiveness of the preventive maintenance program
- Oversees the timely repair of production equipment, support equipment, alarm system, building and HVAC within the operating budget.
- Works with scheduling to review and analyze timing and scheduling of Major machine or Facility maintenance
- Conduct daily gemba walks to openly discuss performance and daily activities
- Provide monthly performance reports to manager
- Works with Purchasing to ensure that all necessary materials are on order and will be received in a timely manner
- Support and enforce company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Motivate, reward & counseling employees in accordance with the organizations policies
- Drive continuous improvement methodologies and tools to achieve daily improvements
- Educates and motivates department personnel on the importance of attaining key accountability metrics/goals.
- Ensures all Work Instructions and Procedures as they relate to assigned departments are up to date.
- Complete employee requisitions, selection, and performance reviews as per the company requirement
- Ensures Department budget targets are met
Team Based Problem Solving/Projects – 40%
- Lead cross-functional teams to facilitate optimal departmental performance
- Trouble shoots electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical issues.
- Coordinates with Engineering, Quality, and Environmental, Health, and Safety Departments to ensure the appropriate procedures are followed
- Analyzes opportunities, develops and implements solutions to enhance the area processes
- Activities include scheduling process improvement, increase machine availability, PM Effectiveness improvements, cost reduction efforts, statistical analysis, as well as utilizing Lean Six Sigma methodology, and teamwork
- Completes assigned Plant projects on time and within budget.
Asset Management - 10%
- Maintains plant assets and routinely reviews per a repair/replace strategy
- Keeps current on industry trends as related to Machine and facility management and makes recommendations for the site.
- Maintains a forward looking facility budget (5-10 years)
Education and/or Experience
Required –
- Associate's degree in Facility Management, Operations Management and/or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or five years of related experience as an Facility Manager/Supervisor or Maintenance/Supervisor
- Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) experience
- Excellent trouble shooting skills in PLCs, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems for production machinery and support equipment
- Experience with Lean tools
- Excellent computer skills; Effective written and verbal communication; Ability to simultaneously execute multiple assignments; Problem solving; and Project management
Preferred –
- Bachelor's degree in Facility Management or Maintenance Management
- Six Sigma Black Belt Certification
- SAP experience
- Operate material handling equipment, scissor lift and manipulating man lift
