About The Role

The Middle School ELA Support Teacher will support the campus in providing a comprehensive and engaging English Language Arts curriculum. This role involves assisting with lesson planning, classroom management, student assessments, and fostering a positive learning environment. The Support Teacher will work closely with students to enhance their reading, writing, and critical thinking skills.

You Will Also

  • Provide one-on-one and/or small group support to students needing extra help in the area of English Language Arts

  • Track and record student progress in the areas of grammar, writing, vocabulary, and reading comprehension, and maintain accurate and up-to-date records of students’ performance

  • Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with parents and guardians regarding the progress of their students’ ELA support.

  • Work collaboratively with faculty members and school staff in identifying and supporting the needs of students receiving additional ELA support.

  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences of those students receiving ELA support.

  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and training workshops.

  • Support the International Student Program as needed (i.e. translation, meeting with prospective or new parents and students) to help drive enrollment and provide a welcoming environment for the new families

  • Provide feedback to school administration on the effectiveness of the application process in assessing an ISP students’ ability to be successful in the classroom

  • Monitor student behavior and address any issues in a timely and appropriate manner.

  • Enforce school and classroom rules and procedures.

What We Are Looking For

A bachelor’s degree in education or English or a related field is preferred.

Prior experience in a teaching or tutoring role, preferably at the middle school level.

Familiarity with ELA curriculum and instructional strategies.

Fluent Mandarin
