The IT Manager III, Shared Data Platforms Metadata and Data Quality Manager will lead a cross-functional team responsible for planning, designing, building, and supporting a technology platforms to support metadata management, reference data management, Data Lineage/Traceability and Data Quality Management capabilities. This leader will be the owner of the applications, solutions, and digital capabilities centered around Data Governance. The IT Manager will work on digital experiences for our customers around the globe. The incumbent will manage teams of project managers, solution architects, business analysts, developers, and technical leaders working on multiple projects within Shared Data Platforms Metadata Management and DQ technology functions. This role will utilize a strong background in Data Management, Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Cataloging, planning and delivering complex IT initiatives, and knowledge of various IT disciplines.

Essential Functions

Strategy and Planning

  • Responsible to organize and steer the design, planning, development, and successful launch of projects, applications, features, and enhancements.
  • Align to a roadmap of projects and initiatives for the next 12 months. Majority of the focus will be in the 3-6 month window but must not lose sight of overall strategy and roadmap.
  • Provide direction to the team that report this role.
  • Participate and engage in the discussion and negotiation for implementation contract services. This includes both software and services.
  • Facilitate process across DT/EDI/Business department to gain consensus on a prioritized set of measurable business outcomes that platform must support.
  • Provide leadership and direction to your team to ensure it will contribute to the company achieving its goals.
  • Contribute to a unified IT strategy in the context of the business strategy.
  • Develop productive relationships with business leaders across the organization to influence how applications can enable new sources of value.
  • Define and enhance methodologies and practices for the application life cycle management in line with best practice and practical experience of continuous improvement.
  • Manage relationships with major vendors and service providers so that they deliver cost-effective solutions which meet the needs of the organization.
  • Benchmark, analyze and make recommendation for improving current methods and practices.
  • Suggest areas of improvement to address and resolve Metadata and Data Quality issues.
  • Ensure a detailed succession plan is in place for both individuals and skills to ensure sufficient staff depth is in place to meet the needs of the business.
  • Partner with business leadership regarding risks, objectives, and process improvements. Actively engage business management to ensure business needs and expectations are met.
  • Embrace innovation and continuously improve your approach and your team. Set goals and maintain alignment with business and IT leadership expectations.
  • Able to prepare and present solution recommendations and comprehensive status updates to IT leadership.

Acquisition and Deployment

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of the application organization and is required to hold all application delivery teams accountable for optimizing the cost, risk, and value of applications throughout their life cycle.
  • Responsible for the oversight of individual implementations, including staffing recommendations, individual roles and responsibilities, and timeliness of deliverables.
  • Understand implementation issues and opportunities in the context of the requirements and works with stakeholders to recommend solutions that enable the organization to achieve its goals.
  • Conducts detailed research of vendor offerings and assists with general project management.
  • Works with technology partners to scale and enhance workforce to drive speed, agility, and quality solutions.
  • Focus on the Customer Experience and align your team to deliver specific and valuable experiences for our customers.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and customers to deliver requirements.
  • Provide support and facilitate innovative and experimental application work to test new ideas with bounded cost and time frames.
  • Implement and manage application life cycle management status reporting, metrics, and benchmarks.
  • Conduct post-project analysis to reflect upon successes, failures, and lessons learned.
  • Work with architecture teams to ensure alignment and best practices when implementing customer experiences.
  • Participates in project and design reviews to evaluate and ensure that the design being applied meets policies, principles, and standards.
  • Reviews and aligns software recommendations to avoid redundant effort and ensure that implementation standards are met.

Operational Management

  • Develop wants/needs for the annual budgeting process in projects, operations, and support. Provide monthly budget updates for your area of responsibility and adjustments based on change to work in-progress, hiring, and external spend with vendors. Advocate for additional budget based on delivering additional business value. Work across other delivery teams to maximize our spend and investments.
  • Provide guidance on standards and implementation requirements for supported applications.
  • Develops, builds, and refines methods and tools.
  • Utilize existing systems to track and manage requests and issues. Recommend changes to these systems as required.
  • Review and edit requirements, specifications, business processes and recommendations related to proposed implementation solution within the group.
  • Direct and build high performing team. Ensure engagement is maintained at high levels. Ensure employee development plans are set and achieved.
Incidental Functions
  • Lead departmental or divisional meetings as requested.
  • Prepare and lead presentations as requested.
  • Research or prototype new tools and/or technologies.
  • Lead internal teams/task forces on initiatives as assigned.
  • Assist with other projects as necessary to contribute to efficiency and effectiveness of the teamwork.

Formal Education & Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, IT or related field or equivalent experience.

Knowledge & Experience

  • 12+ yrs Business and/or IT experience.
  • 6+ yrs management or enterprise department management experience.
  • 4+ yrs experience leading team-based activities.
  • 4+ yrs leading and/or managing large, complex website projects.
  • Experience with all phases of software development lifecycle, such as analysis, design, development, project management and architecture.
  • Experience managing team, assigning tasks, managing tasks, delegating of work duties, leading technical area of large-scale implementations.
  • Experience with the design, implementation, deployment, automation, and support of web solutions primarily in a global cloud-based environment.
  • Strong application product knowledge and ability to understand customer's needs.
  • Experience translating business requirements into system configuration.
  • Experience with providing guidance on configuration and development standards to improve consistency.
  • Demonstrated skill with presentation and communication tools such as MS PowerPoint, Visio, etc.

Preferred Knowledge & Experience

  • Enterprise or large-scale experience with one or more of the following: eCommerce, web content management, master data management, product information management, iOS/Android, QA Automation, microservices.
  • Experience automating processes to ensure secure, scalable, and repeatable work across software development and infrastructure.
  • Exposure to application security technologies and approaches preferred.
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
  • Experience in project management and/or substantial exposure to project-based work structures.
