Overview: Community Life Engagement Manager RiverWoods Durham is currently hiring for a Community Life Engagement Manager to come join our team in Durham, NH. We are looking for team members who will bring their best selves and specialty skills to our organization. The Community Engagement Manager will provide guidance and training for all Life Engagement team members focusing on growth and development of the team’s dementia care knowledge, recreational therapy, and ability to run successful programming. In addition, this manager will work within the greater operational team to help develop dementia care training and resources for all departments. Typical hours for this position are Monday- Friday 8 am- 4:30 pm. Availability after-hours, on weekends, and/or holidays or as needed may be requested to meet community needs.   • Lead, supervise, train, schedule and support the Newfound Lodge Life Engagement team.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Assisted Living Engagement Coordinator, Memory Support Engagement Coordinator, and Life Engagement Partners to ensure successful programming is being developed and executed.
  • Ensuring programs reflect person-centered care, brain health, memory support, and our wellness philosophies.
  • Utilize technology and tools provided to measure the success of programs and engagement. Provide data monthly or as requested to Director of Community Life.
  • Ensure all programs and activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Attend clinical team huddles regularly throughout the week.
  • Budget Planning: Forecast needs of the department including food, equipment, supplies and labor, maintain current records of expenditures and adjust to approved budget. Ensure adequate financial records and cost reports are completed as requested by the Finance department and Director of Community Life.
  • Focus on enhancing knowledge in dementia care, recreational therapy, and successful programming. Collaborate with the Director of Community Life to provide educational opportunities for dementia care training and resources to all employees.
  • Stay current on the latest research and industry trends on Dementia or Alzheimer’s disease and develop and design programming to support best practices. Enhance and develop staff knowledge of proper techniques in working with residents who have a diagnosis of Dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.
  • Supports organizational initiatives to develop awareness around Dementia or Alzheimer’s disease and participates in industry association conferences, educational opportunities, and outreach events within the community.
  • Coordinate with various departments to integrate care practices and resources effectively.
  • Assist in the planning and provide development, organization, and implementation of a Volunteer Program for Newfound Lodge.
  • Ensure new residents and/or their families receive proper orientation into Newfound Lodge across all levels of care.
  • Prepare and participate in all resident care conferences.
  • Help lead activities and events on all levels of care. Document in medical record application resident engagement and involvement notes.
  • Communicates any changes noted in the resident’s condition or behavior pattern to the Director or Assistant Director of Health Services and document them in the online medical record system.
  • Provide weekly updates for resident newsletters.
  • Attend quarterly Risk Management and QAPI meetings to represent the Community Life Engagement team.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information, report complaints and grievances made by the resident and make a written report to the Nurse on the floor and Supportive Living Administrator indicating the incident/situation.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor level college degree or equivalent in experience and skill Required. Degree in Recreational Management, Therapeutic Recreation, Occupational Therapy, Health and Wellness Management, preferred.
  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in social or recreation programming, (3) of which has been full-time in a leadership role in a health care setting.
  • Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist and Certified Dementia Practitioner, required.
