As a Pharmacy Technician II/Research Coordinator, you will assist the pharmacist assigned to Investigational Drug Services research activities at ChristianaCare, which includes the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center.Primary functions include initiation of study protocols, education, and training of pharmacy staff, monitoring study progress, routine communication/collaboration with the principal investigator or assigned research coordinator. The research coordinator will assist in ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies to include the board of pharmacy, CMS, and the Joint Commision.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Initiation, maintenance, and record control for investigational studies
  • Staff education for the various studies and serving as a resource for the staff
  • Serving as the contact for Investigational Drug Research coordinators that require pharmacy support
  • Quarterly billing for pharmacy services and preparing a quarterly Investigational Drug activity report
  • Tracking of all enrolled patients in various investigational drug protocols
  • Tracking of all cost avoidance/savings from patients enrolled in IDS studies
  • Serving as the primary pharmacy contact for site monitors and coordinators for inpatient study sponsors
  • Membership in the research coordinators group and attendance at monthly meetings to represent the pharmacy department in investigational drug processes
  • Implements and manages investigational drug information on the intranet
  • Implements and manages the storage procedure for closed trials

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma required
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • At least 3 years of pharmacy experience required
  • At least 1 year of experience in infusion or hospital pharmacy preferred
  • At least 1 year of experience in sterile compounding preferred
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification required, unless enrolled in a PharmD program
  • Academic course work in research methods or equivalent training through work experience preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Standing and walking with intermittent sitting. Occasional extended periods at computer terminal. Required movement throughout ChristianaCare. Requires manual dexterity, the ability to push or pull a fully weighted cart of 250 lbs., which requires no more than 15 lbs. of force and lift up to 50 lbs. as essential components of the position.
