Position Description:

The Lead GroupUnderwriter is responsible for underwriting and retaining large or complex insurance cases and blocks by using extensive subject matter knowledge about company products and underwriting principles. This position works independently and influences others to achieve significant operational targets and has responsibility for small projects within the job area.

Position Location:

  • This role could be hybrid or remote based on proximity to an office location.

What you do:

  • Analyze and evaluate risk for insurance cases considering characteristics such as plan design, demographics, experience, financial factors, and state and federal regulations.
  • Select and maintain cases to achieve necessary revenue, persistency, and profitability goals for top and bottom line growth. Communicate financial and other factors to field partners and upper management.
  • Design and coordinate issuance of plans, policies or premium rates within established departmental guidelines. Take lead on identifying problems and providing solutions and alternatives.
  • Demonstrate an extensive understanding of various insurance products, their features and limitations, and industry/regulatory terms.
  • Provide training and guidance to new or entry level associates. May supervise or audit the work of others.
  • Lead projects of varying size that have significant impact on department results and your book of business.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required
  • 3-5 years of dental or vision underwriting experience required

The pay range posted reflects a nationwide minimum to maximum covering all potential locations where the position may be filled. The final determination on pay for any position will be based on multiple factors including role, career level, work location, skill set, and candidate level of experience to ensure pay equity within the organization.
