Our client, an individual with a spinal cord injury, is seeking a compassionate and professional RN or LPN to provide essential nighttime care. Based in a fully secured condominium in downtown Burlington, VT, this role offers a supportive and welcoming environment. Role Overview:
This position involves providing direct care to an adult male quadriplegic throughout the night shift. Ideal candidates will be upbeat, communicative, and have experience in either hospital, long-term care, or home care settings, particularly with third/overnight shifts. The client has a well-structured team in place, ensuring that support staff work cooperatively and can rely on one another in case of scheduling conflicts.
Responsibilities:
- Ventilator monitoring and maintenance during night shifts
- Trach care and respiratory suctioning
- Assistance with urinary and bowel management
- Bathing, skin care, massage, and range of motion (ROM) exercises
- Medication administration and vital signs monitoring as needed
- Support with daily living activities
- Light cleaning duties, including laundry, wiping down surfaces, changing trash and recycling, sweeping floors, and ironing
- Pet care as required
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification (required)
- Minimum 2 years experience working in hospital, long-term care, or home care settings, particularly on night shifts
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative spirit
- Up-to-date COVID-19 vaccination (required)
- Valid driver’s license (required)
- Ability to travel within and outside the U.S. for up to 5 weeks per year (non-consecutive)
Work Environment:
This role is based in a secure and modern condominium in downtown Burlington with on-site parking and access to the scenic waterfront. The support team has a private study available, equipped with a smart TV, Internet, and kitchen access for use during shifts. While there is ample opportunity for interaction, staff members also have designated areas for personal comfort.
