Role Purpose Statement

The job incumbent ensures control, maintenance and continuous improvement of operational standards, according to Corporate policies and customer requirements, within the North America Region and in accordance with the regional/corporate team. Responsible for supporting the achievement of the Customer Service Center (CSC) budgets as agreed by the GM of the CSC and ensure control, maintenance and continuous improvement of Lean practices, methods and tools according to the LSG Sky Chefs Production System.

Main Accountabilities

Business Strategy, Policies and Tools
Ensure control, maintenance and continuous improvement of operational and lean production standards, according to Corporate policies and customer requirements and in accordance with the corporate team
Lean Production
Strategize, implement and drive continuous improvement across CSCs and in close coordination with management staff
Understand, conceptualize and deploy sound manufacturing strategies, tools and approaches within a specific process of the manufacturing processes on the CSCs (Food, E&S, Assembly)
Implement LSG Production System in line with corporate and regional policies
Increase know how and skills on lean production and continuous improvement by developing and facilitating lean and other process improvement related workshops and provide training as required (for example, Kaizen events)
Support the implementation of Regional Operational Excellence Strategy, guidelines, and policies
Define continuous improvement targets together with the management staff and report performance against objectives
Analyze cost reduction potential; Accountable for delivering results related to productivity/process improvements
Report on KPIs for quality, productivity costs, and service delivery
Ensure communication and know-how sharing processes between CSCs in the region
Leadership
Identify and train departmental management and core employees on production system methodology and lean principles
Coach CSC LPS Leaders and Managers to understand and apply LPS principles and methods to achieve business targets (KPI’s)

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Assembly
Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of Assembly Processes: Understanding of various assembly techniques, including but not limited to manual assembly, automated assembly, soldering, welding, etc.
  • Lean Manufacturing Principles: Familiarity with lean manufacturing methodologies to optimize assembly processes, reduce waste, and improve efficiency.
  • Problem-solving: Proficiency in identifying and resolving assembly-related issues promptly and effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, industrial management, or a related field is typically required. A master's degree in a relevant field can be advantageous.
  • Experience: Several years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with progressively increasing responsibilities in assembly operations. Experience in a supervisory or managerial role is often necessary.
  • Certifications: Certifications in areas such as lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or project management can be beneficial.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the specific industry and its regulatory requirements, such as ISO standards, safety regulations, etc.

Equipment Production/ Sanitation
Technical Skills:

  • Equipment Production Knowledge: Understanding of equipment manufacturing processes, including machining, fabrication, welding, assembly, and testing.
  • Engineering Background: A degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field is often required to comprehend the technical aspects of equipment production.
  • Knowledge of Sanitation Standards: Familiarity with sanitation regulations and standards applicable to the industry, such as those set by regulatory bodies like the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) or USDA (United States Department of Agriculture).
  • Understanding of Equipment Design: Ability to interpret equipment design specifications and ensure that equipment meets performance, safety, and sanitation requirements.
  • Sanitation Expertise:
  • Hygiene and Sanitation Practices: In-depth knowledge of sanitation practices relevant to the industry, including cleaning procedures, disinfection techniques, and sanitation equipment.
  • HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points): Understanding of HACCP principles and their application in ensuring food safety and sanitation in food processing environments.
  • GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices): Familiarity with GMP requirements and their implementation to maintain sanitary conditions in manufacturing facilities.
  • Sanitation Auditing and Compliance: Experience in conducting sanitation audits, implementing corrective actions, and ensuring compliance with sanitation regulations and standards.

Qualifications:
Education:

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably mechanical or industrial engineering, or a related field is typically required. A master's degree in engineering or business administration can be advantageous.

Experience:

  • Several years of experience in equipment production, preferably in a managerial or supervisory role, with a strong emphasis on sanitation practices.
  • Certifications: Certifications such as Certified Food Safety Manager (CFSM), HACCP certification, or Six Sigma certification can enhance credibility and qualifications.
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the specific industry, its equipment requirements, sanitation challenges, and regulatory landscape.
