Plains is looking for a skilled and motivated Red Seal journeyperson to perform electrical and instrumentation maintenance and reliability activities at our Windsor, Ontario, storage facility. Reporting to the Facility Supervisor you will assist in the facility’s efficient operation and execute your responsibilities in accordance with company standards, policies, and procedures. The role requires working a compressed 9/80 schedule with callouts and overtime as needed.

Permanent residency within 120 km of Windsor is a condition of employment.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, calibrate, test, prove, troubleshoot, repair, and otherwise maintain electrical equipment and instrumentation such as PLCs, meters, analyzers, motor control centers (480V and 600V), motors, switchgear (5kv), VFDs, MOVs, and other equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Understand Canadian Electrical Code requirements.
  • Inspect and test the operation of instruments and systems to diagnose faults using electrical and electronic devices.
  • Consult manufacturer's manuals, circuit diagrams, and blueprints to determine tests and maintenance procedures.
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for optimization and improvement.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance for all electrical and instrumentation equipment including pneumatic controls.
  • Complete all written and electronic records (i.e., work orders, maintenance reports, calibration sheets, time entry, material requests, drawings) required to document the work in progress and as it is completed.
  • Provide on-call support during non-business hours for emergency response and maintenance break-ins.
  • Provide technical input and scope development for operations, projects, and turnarounds.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Interprovincial Instrumentation and Control Technician or Electrical Technician (309A license); Master Electrician License or dual ticketed (or apprenticed) preferred.
  • Candidates with 5–10 years’ prior gas plant, refinery, pipeline, or oilfield experience are preferred.
  • PLC programming experience preferred; familiarity with
    Schneider Electric PLCs and Ignition DCSs an asset.
  • Computer skills with knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (Maximo preferred), MS Word / Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem solving, and optimization skills.
  • Self-motivated and energetic with effective written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with a variety of individuals in a busy field environment.
  • Strong focus on safety and accountability for safety performance.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract.
  • Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks.
  • Compliance with the Company’s drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment D&A testing. #Plains
