This role focuses on supporting the education and development of employees or students by developing education, curricula, materials, and programs to support educational growth. In addition, this role focuses on performing the following Higher Education duties:Works directly with clinical and academic staff to design and deliver academic and clinical education. A professional individual contributor role that may direct the work of other lower level professionals or manage processes and programs. The majority of time is spent overseeing the design, implementation or delivery of processes, programs and policies using specialized knowledge and skills typically acquired through advanced education. An experienced level role that applies practical knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. Works independently with general supervision, problems faced are difficult but typically not complex, and may influence others within the job area through explanation of facts, policies and practices.

Job Overview

This position develops, implements, and provides staff education and competency related to assigned projects. Acts as educator to improve and enhance functional capabilities of all licensed and non-licensed personnel and volunteers by the provision of orientation, continuing education, and in-service programs.

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or other clinical discipline.

2. RN License or Physical Therapy License or Occupational Therapy License.

3. One (1) year of experience in clinical education.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Two (2) years of experience in clinical education.

2. Experience working in EPIC.

Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature of work and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

1. Work cooperatively with all department managers, administration, and HR to develop, implement and document orientation of all agency staff.

2. Assess individual employee learner needs to allow for flexibility and judgment in the orientation content.

3. Assist orientees in identification of specific goals for orientation and develop individualized plans.

4. Ensure documentation of orientation process including assessment of skills checklist, orientation checklist.

5. Provide and arrange for additional orientations to meet agency-wide needs.

6. Support transition of new staff through continuing instruction and counseling.

7. Ensure adequate training of employees.

8. Assist in the development, implementation, and documentation of annual professional competencies.

9. Assist in review and evaluation of the competency program for professional staff.

10. Assist in organizing, facilitating, and overseeing quarterly education, including annual competencies for assigned job groups.

11. Work collaboratively with College Programs to assist students with home care clinical placement and experience.

12. Work collaboratively with managers to coordinate student placements in the agency and provide and arrange agency orientation.

13. Stay current with staff development technology, attending seminars or training that is applicable to agency needs.

14. Train staff in EMR products and computer/program use.

15. Create educational videos and online education content and competencies.

16. Assist in the assessment of staff education needs audit, results from clinical record reviews, patient satisfaction surveys, incident reports and external auditors.

17. Provide and/or arranges for In-service Programs to meet staff needs as identified in surveys, needs assessments, strategic plans etc.

18. Assist in oversee educational process for clinical regulatory areas (CMS, DPH)

19. Assesses training needs based on the needs of staff, referral sources and changes in home care

20. Develops programs in response to identified staff and agency-wide needs.

Physical Requirements:

1. Frequently required to move about inside the office to access filing cabinets, office machinery, etc.

2. Must be able to remain in a stationary position.

3. May need to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10-25 pounds.

4. Constantly operate a computer and other standard office equipment such as copy machines, phones, photocopier, fax machines and computer printers.

5. Must be able to exchange accurate information via phone, email and/or in person

6. Specific vision abilities apply including close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.

7. This position operates in a clerical office setting

8. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Skills & Abilities:

1. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

2. Good clinical documentation skills.

3. Ability to communicate appropriately with all levels of staff, nursing leadership and executive leadership.

4. Ability to read/write and communicate in English.

5. Excellent interpersonal skills.

6. Good organizational skills.
