LEAD LAB TECHNICIAN

JOB SUMMARY:

Under minimal supervision, acts as a resource and role model for the clinical laboratory processing staff. Receives and processes patients’ specimens (blood, urine, spinal and other fluids) for laboratory testing. Works in partnership with other laboratory staff and supervisors as well as patient care personnel in both inpatient and outpatient settings

• Serves as front line supervision and role model to staff.
• Communicates effectively with members of patient care team and other hospital staff
• Develops effective working relationships with customers, co-workers, and physicians
• Assumes primary responsibility for the quality assurance of every specimen received and handled in the laboratory
• Receives and processes specimens sent to the laboratory and maintains appropriate records and documentation
• Thoroughly investigates and resolves discrepancies

REQUIREMENTS:

• Formal working knowledge; equivalent to an Associate's degree (2 years college); requires knowledge of a specialized field
• Min. of 5-7 years of previous relevant experience
