Position Summary:

The Senior Health & Safety Specialist will focus on improving health and safety at STARPLUS ENERGY by using his/her experience to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, control, and minimize hazards in the workplace. This position reports to the Health & Safety Manager.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Health & Safety Manager with department planning activities
  • Conduct incident investigations and audits to identify and eliminate or minimize the chances of preventable work-related illnesses and injuries
  • Function as an expert resource for consistent implementation of company health and safety standards and programs
  • Respond to and reports emergency situations
  • Manage compliance of annual safety trainings
  • Perform Risk Assessments
  • Track and record data for safety-related activities including injuries, near-miss incidents, etc.
  • Enforce all company policies and ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations
  • Communicate safety issues and concerns to departmental leadership in a timely manner
  • Perform other position related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Basic:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Management or related field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in similar position
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal abilities, effectively engaging with individuals at various organizational levels
  • Strong knowledge of all OSHA, federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to workplace health and safety
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
  • While travel is unlikely, the ideal candidate will be able to travel, with reasonable prior notice as required (domestic and/or international)
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, or holidays as required

Preferred:

  • Previous experience managing health and safety personnel
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or related Designation
  • Bilingual (English and Korean)

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to sit, walk and stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work in front of a computer screen for extended periods of time
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
