Position Summary:
The Senior Health & Safety Specialist will focus on improving health and safety at STARPLUS ENERGY by using his/her experience to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, control, and minimize hazards in the workplace. This position reports to the Health & Safety Manager.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Assist the Health & Safety Manager with department planning activities
- Conduct incident investigations and audits to identify and eliminate or minimize the chances of preventable work-related illnesses and injuries
- Function as an expert resource for consistent implementation of company health and safety standards and programs
- Respond to and reports emergency situations
- Manage compliance of annual safety trainings
- Perform Risk Assessments
- Track and record data for safety-related activities including injuries, near-miss incidents, etc.
- Enforce all company policies and ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations
- Communicate safety issues and concerns to departmental leadership in a timely manner
- Perform other position related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Basic:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Management or related field
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in similar position
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
- Exhibit excellent interpersonal abilities, effectively engaging with individuals at various organizational levels
- Strong knowledge of all OSHA, federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to workplace health and safety
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
- While travel is unlikely, the ideal candidate will be able to travel, with reasonable prior notice as required (domestic and/or international)
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, or holidays as required
Preferred:
- Previous experience managing health and safety personnel
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or related Designation
- Bilingual (English and Korean)
Working Conditions:
- Ability to sit, walk and stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to work in front of a computer screen for extended periods of time
- Ability to operate basic office equipment
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
