Job Summary and Qualifications
The Administrator on Site is a Registered Nurse who assumes authority and responsibility for hospital operations in the absence of Administration with backup of a 24-hour Administrator on-call. Applies knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span to identify patient and family requirements relative to age specific needs. Demonstrates knowledge of hospital administration, nursing services, customer relations, and plant operations; serves to facilitate communication among all customers; initiates conflict resolution and refers issues as appropriate to the Director; maintains a high degree of visibility within the hospital and serves as a resource and a role model for the staff. Reports directly to the Chief Nursing Officer.
What you will do in this role:
- Operations/Administration: Assists in the development, planning, and achievement of Texas Orthopedic Hospital goals by communicating the needs of staff and serving as a representative of Administration.
- Initiates and completes projects or studies assigned by the CNO in a timely manner.
- Communication: Interfaces with the Administrator-On-Call to facilitate smooth overall operations.
- Serves as a clinical resource and role model in the management of patient and nursing related issues.
- Responds to patient emergencies including all types of codes.
- Addresses all issues concerning patient care and refers these issues to the appropriate director.
- Assists in the delivery of safe patient care as it pertains to age specific requirement and growth and development principles, by working with the Directors or their designees to assure adequate staffing levels for provision of optimum patient care.
- Projects a professional appearance and manner, and portrays good customer service principles to internal/external customers.
- Coordinates and integrates interdepartmental and intradepartmental services.
- Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services.
- Recommends a sufficient number of qualified and competent persons to provide care, including treatment.
- Participates in the determination of the qualifications and competence of department personnel who provide patient care services and who are not licensed independent practitioners.
- Continuously assesses and improves the performance of care and services provided to patient population served.
- Education: Actively participates and/or facilitates educational projects that relate to the administrative role as established by Administration.
- Encourages development of all personnel, including but not limited to, department specific orientation and continuing education, compliance with annual hospital required in-services, assessment of qualification, and competence.
- Utilizes knowledge of leadership and management principles in the provision of direction to personnel within the hospital.
- Bases decision making on sound principles related to management including cost containment in the hospital.
- Maintains personal competencies as an RN to deliver direct patient care.
- Utilizes moderately complex equipment effectively and safely with ability to train and supervise others in the use of this equipment.
- Utilizes appropriate principles in the provision of direct patient care services and in the supervision of other personnel performing these services.
- Communicates effectively with patients, physicians, personnel, and other hospital personnel to fulfill position responsibilities.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide services to patients served in relation to growth and development over the life span to identify their requirements relative to age-specific needs.
- Supports the philosophy of Texas Orthopedic Hospital by facilitating the collaboration of hospital staff in a multi-disciplinary approach to problem solving through the application of sound management techniques.
- Communicates and collaborates with colleagues and physicians to enhance effective and efficient patient care delivery and achievement of the organizational goals.
- Responsible for the professional development of self, including but not limited to, supporting certification for specialty area, and involvement in professional associations and community.
What qualifications you will need:
- BCLS, ACLS and PALS.
- Minimum of 5 years management and critical care.
- Registered Nurse must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Registered Nurse Diploma must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
